  1. They will probably work out a deal to bring him back cheaper. He sucks but after what we saw this year with depth starters, he can't possibly be worse to hide in the pen in case of need than Bolsinger, Valdez, Tepesch, Rowley, Lawrence, and whoever else the team started that I'm trying to forget.
  2. Signing JD through age 37 at huge money is kind of insane. Not everyone ages like Beltre. Considering the type of 2nd half he is having, I say trade him this winter, but there will be something preventing that from happening, and it rhymes with Dodgers.
  3. Depends on how Vlad can handle the position. I wouldn't want him to be like Edwin was in Cincy or Cabrera was in Florida/Detroit, a defensive liability for many years. If he is better off at first or left or somewhere else, then move him there young. The bat is what makes him a top prospect, not the D.
  4. If Alford is on the team he should be the center fielder. Not a fan of moving someone to a corner just for Pillar's s***** bat and still good but declining D.
  5. The Jays acquired Tom Koehler for Osman Gutierrez during the board blow up this weekend. One more year of control after this season, but I hope they don't intend on offering him arb.
  6. Don't ever leave me again.
  7. A player i could see the Jays going after from STL is Grichuk. Dude hits the ball hard and in the air. Strikes out a ton though.
  8. This is going to be the road trip which seals the Jays season IMO. Even taking 3 of 6 would be an accomplishment but I have a feeling something like 1-5 is on the way. Hope I'm wrong.
  9. Yeah seriously. Bring Joe Smith back or some equivalent to him that's always on the market every year and get 3-4 pieces back for Osuna before his arm explodes. Best use of a closer.
  10. Stroman probably saw Refsynder coming in as an infield replacement and is going to try to strike everyone out.
  11. Is Ohlman a bad framer? According to gameday the 0-2 pitch to Ramos was a curve ball right down the middle and called a ball. Or maybe just umps being umps.
  12. Estrada will be back next year. Whichever team claimed him won't give up much for 5 or 6 starts. Nothing's going to happen.
  13. It's not so much the Aav, but the fact that he could be an issue just having on the roster. How many sluggers like him without super elite plate discipline age gracefully? Even Bautista who did have great plate discipline saw a big drop off at age 35-36, and Stanton will be signed until 38. It's an Alex A move. A move that will provide value and excitement for the first few years until you realize you're stuck with a former great player in his twilight making big money towards the mid/end of the deal.
  14. He has 10/295 left on his contract, and he will be 28 next season. Hell to the no on Stanton. The first half of that contract will probably be fine, but the last five could be brutal.
  15. Lol, one of those games where the Jays had no business winning it, but I'll take it.
  16. Getting a standing O from the crowd > wins. Oh well, at least the season is a lost cause, otherwise this s*** would be way more frustrating.
  17. Nevermind. I thought Gibbons would take Tepesch out after 6 but winning is apparently not something he wants to do.
  18. The good news is he got through six with only 1 run allowed. Bad news is he was absolute s*** and will now get another start where he won't be so lucky and will get his ass handed to him.
  19. Gibbons better have a quick f***ing hook here. Tepesch is dumpster fire.
  20. I refuse to live in a world where Keith Law was right about something, so dammit Tellez, turn into a big leaguer!
  21. I was hoping Dumbrowski would have traded him. Won't happen now. Darn.
  22. Yep. Jays need to go on a huge winning streak just to get back into real contention, and they'll have to do that with 2/5 of the rotation being dumpster fire. Rowley had a good start, but he's not reliable by any means. That's not even factoring the lineup with Barney/Ref and Goins up the middle, Pillar at center, and Raffy/Montero/Ohlman at catcher. Too little, too late. But hell, even if they fake contention from now until October, at least it will kill time. Nothing worse than waiting for the off-season to begin in August. Go on a fake run and keep me entertained.
  23. Agreed, but the alternative is watching an old ass team with no young players play out the string. Some blind hope at least is a good time passer until the off-season.
  24. One of the big reasons the Jays can't go on an extended winning streak is that they only have 3 mlb starters right now, and their depth is basically dumpster fire. They pretty much can't afford to lose the games Stro/Estrada/Happ start, and then have to pray when the other two SP's go. There has to be some Hellickson type scrub available via waivers that can at least eat some big league innings at an above replacement rate for the rest of the season. Better than watching Tepesch get his ass handed to him tomorrow and beyond.
  25. It is more surprising that the Jays view him as a second baseman. Has no one from the org watched him play defence before? Dude is trash in the infield. I know anything is better than Goins and Barney, but they actually have to be able to field at least a little bit too.
