  1. Can't wait until Alford is the CF. can't stand Pillar.
  2. Extreme GB pitcher on the mound. Time to start Refsynder at second base. Sounds like a fool proof plan.
  3. If Estrada was pitching like this directly leading up to the trade deadline, then I think that would have been more likely. Now with the waiver process and two weeks already gone post trade deadline, teams might be less likely to give up enough value to make a deal worth while for the Jays. If I had to pin point a team that would be desperate enough to make a deal it would be Seattle (longest playoff drought), but not sure what they have left or what they'd give up. I'd love if the Jays got something good for Marco and then brought him back three months from now, but it's looking more likely that keeping him and re-signing him is the more likely scenario.
  4. I have said before I think Estrada will be back next season. Shapiro wants nothing to do with the free agent market and Estrada is practically endorsing that he wants to come back. Unless they get an actual good package for him, I think he will stay regardless of how the team is doing. He's not going to be Jay Bruce'd.
  5. I don't see why he would. He'd be a fairly cheap ($3-4mm?) gamble for six weeks. If he has cleared, then yeah, the Jays should hold out for actual value now.
  6. August 10, 2017 2B Samad Taylor assigned to Vancouver Canadians from Bluefield Blue Jays.
  7. Donaldson will be in a weird spot because he will be a free agent at age 33, the big market teams don't need 3b (unless Dombrowski turns Dumbrowski and trades Devers), and he will be competing in the same free agent class as Harper and Machado who are 6-7 years younger than him. If he tests free agency, he's probably not going to get the deals he thinks he will. The Jays should offer him a four year extension on top of his one year of control left. That sets him up from age 32-36. That's reasonable. If not, then let him test free agency or trade him next trade deadline.
  8. Holy s*** how much scrubs have the Jays started this year? Latos, Bolsinger, Valdez, Lawrence, Tepesch......god damn this season sucks.
  9. DJ Davis in his last 109 plate appearances: .333/.435/.400, 14 walks, 20 strike outs, 13 SB/1 CS. SSS for everyone!
  10. Yeah seriously. Other than one good half season in 2015, he's been utter trash for years and years. Not sure what the hell two front offices see in this guy, especially the current one that looks at advanced stats.
  11. Yeah that start basically screwed us. It's been an uphill battle all season because of that, and the team isn't as good as it was in 2015-16 to go on an extended run to compensate for it. It's kind of annoying that the 2nd wc is so trash this year that even a slightly better than .500 season by the Jays would have put them right there, but s*** happens.
  12. The Jays also have a bunch of games left against the teams they are chasing. It is a huge long shot especially since they'll be throwing scrubs out there in place of actual big league starters without Sanchez and Liriano, but if they can at least make September mean something it would be better than waiting for the season to end in August so the off season can start. Damn if Osuna doesn't blow 4 saves in 3 weeks.....
  13. I hope people will stop saying Osuna should be a starter now. Dude might not last his first six years of control as a reliever. His arm would explode out of his body with a starter's workload.
  14. The sad thing is the 2nd WC is so pitiful that these 3 blown saves by Osuna has pretty much been the difference between being seriously in it to out of it.
  15. They have Cano, Segura, and Seager as their infield. They don't need Tulo.
  16. The Reds were eating up $8mm of Bruce's salary from what I remember reading at the time. Between that and the extra year of control, it made sense for the Jays to value Bruce more than a one legged man. In hindsight, Bruce in left, Pearce at DH, and Morales on another team would have looked hella good right about now. The fact that Atkins guessed right on Smoak and Bruce gives me some hope for Morales, I guess.
  17. I'd rather have Pearce than Morales, but yeah, Atkins was the one that signed Morales mad early in the off season. They obviously like him. They have admitted mistakes before (Upton), but I think they will stick it out with Morales for at least another year sadly since he has $23mm left on his contract. If they are willing to eat up half or more of that in a trade then it's probably worth it just to make the DH spot more flexible for some of the older players on the team, but don't see it happening.
  18. Anyone who thinks Otani is not going to the Dodgers is fooling themselves.
  19. They'd have to eat a pretty large chunk of it to get another team to take him. They might see more value in getting an actual asset back for Pearce rather than punting $15-20mil to get rid of Morales, who they liked enough to overpay in the first place. Which is a shame because Pearce is better but there's clearly too many DH/1B types on this roster. Someone has to go.
  20. Barney starting over Refsynder. Ugh.
  21. I remember Shapiro was on the radio about a month back and he mentioned the possibility of bringing Estrada back next season, and when the interviewer asked about Liriano (possibly coming back next season) Shaps seemed dismissive of it. I think the Jays bringing Estrada back next season is a very real possibility. That doesn't mean they won't trade him, but I think they might value him a bit more than Liriano who they basically paid to go somewhere else so they could get an asset in return.
  22. Wow if the Jays get a better prospect for Liriano than Smith, then that's pretty damn surprising. I guess money talks.
  23. $3m, 1.0 WAR, and now two prospects. Overall a nice tenure for Joe Smith in Toronto.
  24. I could see the Jays trading either Pearce or Bautista now in order to give everyday AB's to Hernandez for the rest of the season.
