  1. Chad Green's god mode apparently ends in October.
  2. Depends on what the Marlins want for him. If it's nothing except some C level prospects and taking his salary, then go for it. There's always a chance someone with his skill set can fall off like Ben Revere did, but his defence grades out well and can cover SS in an emergency. He should be worth his salary. Another trade target that I have mentioned before is Randal Grichuk. Cards have a ton of OF's. Look at the dude's batted ball profile and tell me he wouldn't fit in Toronto. Hits the ball hard as hell, tons of flyballs and line drives, very few grounders. Just work some Justin Smoak magic on him to cut down the K's, and you got yourself a player. Maybe the Cards undervalue him?
  3. After his one start they used Koehler in one inning roles only. Maybe they view him as a RP, but still not worth giving him a raise in arb. Wouldn't surprise me if he's non tendered and brought back at a reduced rate.
  4. Might as well move Vladdy in the next year or two (to 1b or LF) rather than watch him hemorrhage value as a third baseman for years. I can't picture him playing 3b (well).
  5. Damn, didn't realize Dee Gordon put up a 3.3 WAR this season. Maybe taking him in a salary dump wouldn't be such a bad idea. When the alternative is Travis until his body fails followed by 4 months of Goins, I'd take just about any competent 2B out there.
  6. He also shouldn't be a long term commitment since he's in his 30's and doesn't have a track record as a starting outfielder. Should be a cheap way to get a 2-3 WAR player. My only concern with starting him in LF or RF is that Pillar is in the OF too. That's two OF spots with 80-90 wRC+. Platooning Dyson might help his numbers. He's my prediction for who the Jays end up with. Atkins will smell that $/war and pounce early. Same idea he had with Pearce, except they would actually play Dyson in a spot he can defend.
  7. Otani (obviously, though unlikely) and Cobb definitely interesting. Not much else on the free agent market. My annual "let's get Jarrod Dyson" plea is actually realistic now since he's a free agent so I'll go with him, but even that's as a 4th OF or a replacement for a traded Pillar (though that probably won't happen). Definitely need a 2B plus a backup that can cover short.
  8. When a scrappy white guy flips the bat and shows off, is it ok?
  9. Green, Betances, Robertson, Chapman. Yep, Twins ain't winning this.
  10. Lol. This game will end at 1 am.
  11. Not going to lie, I want the Yankees to win. The Twins bore me to tears, and the Yankees are the much better team. Good for baseball if the Yanks advance as well. I expect Cleveland to beat either of these teams anyway.
  12. Man, Chad Green's numbers are sick.
  13. Severino was hit pretty hard there. Might have been nerves. Stroman takes the mound come playoff time like a boss. Makes me appreciate the swag a bit.
  14. The media will lose their collective s*** if the Yankees lose this game. They were such a better team than the Twins but one game anything can happen.
  15. Still annoys me that the 2nd WC team is as s***** as the Twins are. Damn the AL outside of the top 4 teams sucked ass this year.
  16. Agreed but when it looked like the comp pick was slipping away and Jose looked like the best OF option available, they pretty much had no choice. Wish he had one more good year in him, but at least it was only a one year deal.
  17. I didn't see the interview, but wasn't he asked about trade rumors or his future with the team? Saying he wants to stay and that he went to management to express that makes him look good and takes the pressure off him as far as having to answer that question every week during the winter. I think we will hear this talk all winter but it will lead no where and JD will start at 3B in 2018 with no extension.
  18. They are going to have to pay JD enough for him not to want to test free agency. It will have to be an overpay. I don't know what an overpay would look like, depends how much Josh thinks he can get, and he seems like the type who wants to get as much as he can (rightfully so). I don't see them agreeing to a number before the 2018 season.
  19. This season is finally over. Man, after the horrid start in April, it felt like this season would never end. Just one more month and we can talk about the hot stove. Sucks not making the playoffs. I was starting to get used to it, but build a small window and you'll get a small window.
  20. Yep. Either sign him to an extension or trade him. Shapiro is too smart for this, he just has to convince Rogers.
  21. The Jays do need a 2B (I ain't trusting Travis again), but no thanks to Wong. Gyorko is necessary to have a capable 3b to replace JD, but the rest of the return better be players with more long term value/upside. Reyes would be my pick. Maybe the Cardinals are sleeping on him because of his injury. Shapiro was the GM in Cleveland when they got Carrasco. He knows what's up.
  22. Gyorko + Reyes + an outfielder (Piscotty or Grichuk)? I mean that's the closest the Jays will get to a deal that fits both short and long-term objectives. Gives them a 3B to replace JD, an outfielder to fill one of those spots, and then a young starter with six years of control to put in the rotation.
  23. Alex Reyes, Jedd Gyorko (we need someone to play third), Magneuris Sierra, and Sandy Alcantara. Buying low on Reyes could work out like Shapiro trading for Carrasco back in the day. I think he's still recovering from tommy john, so he might miss part of the year, but whatever. Let him heal and then see what happens. Pitchers are time bombs anyway, might as well go with the one with the highest upside. Stick Gyorko at third so you have someone competent there, and then you have some prospects to fill out the farm.
  24. Seriously. Pitching prospects are ass. Maybe get one (Reyes) but load up on position players aside from that.
  25. Yeah seriously, the 2nd WC this year is a joke. The AL has four great teams, and The Twins are the only team not in those four that was over .500 this year. That's awful. The whole league was trash.
