If teams know the Jays have no intention of extending him, then the only leverage is the 2020 year of control, which is clearly leverage as the Jays can just keep him instead of making a bad trade. My point was that Stroman is saying he's not signing an extension, I think most people know the Jays have no interest in doing so (whether due to Stro's demands or otherwise), so the threat of an extension isn't really a thing. I'm just responding to that quote at face value.
At this point, everyone knows he's available and the Jays will take the best offer they get (unless it is dog s***, in which case I hope they just hold on to him). Everything else is just posturing which is typical around this time.
