  1. Shapiro needs to do all the public quotes/appearances.
  2. Yeah there are too many buyers higher on the win curve than the Jays this winter. I think Lindblom and Roark might be the best FA the Jays can realistically get, otherwise it will be in the lower tier.
  3. 7/245 for Strasburg according to Jeff Passan. God damn. Cole's going to get $300m.
  4. Yeah my guess is it would be a 4-5 year deal, not a 2 year deal, especially if they do not retain his arb rights after the contract ends which would make a short term deal pointless.
  5. I think the Angels would go above 7 years. The question is will the Yankees match that.
  6. Atkins regime has been good at two things, drafting and international signings. If this happens, I won’t have a lot of expectations, but will give it the benefit of doubt.
  7. With that said, never doubt the Rays. Renfroe will probably have a higher WAR than Pham in 2020 just by wearing a Rays uniform when he plays baseball, and Edwards is already holding his own in A+ at age 20 with a great BB/K rate at every level plus speed (no power at all though).
  8. If Atkins is being sincere in the below blurb, then I doubt he's looking at Marte.
  9. Damn Pineda would have been a great signing on a two year deal. Lindblom or bust.
  10. Definitely over.
  11. Heyman has a rep as a puppet for Boras so probably just noise but it’s something.
  12. The White Sox, Reds, and Twins are all looking to spend on SP's, and that doesn't include the bigger market teams like the Yankees and Dodgers who might swoop in. There will be a lot of competition for the upper/middle market arms.
  13. Wheeler apparently had a higher offer from the White Sox but went with Philly because of location. The Jays are not an ideal location for players, and it’s a bad team in the AL East. Atkins is going to have to give out a contract that he will feel uncomfortable with and exceeds the value the club has placed on that specific player. He might do that on a short term deal, but remains to be seen if he’s willing to tack on an extra year or so to get a player that may be diminishing returns by the backend of the contract. If you look at the big free agents the Jays have signed in the last 15 years, almost all of them were dead money by the last year or two of their deals except Burnett who opted out after 3 years. Ryan, Thomas, Martin, Morales. I don’t think shatkins wants to sign that type of deal.
  14. I wasn't expecting the Jays to sign Wheeler anyway, but if it's anywhere near $120m over five years, then I'm not holding my breath on the Jays doing anything significant. The other thread is selling me on Lindbolm so maybe that's a good thing.
  15. Never get your hopes up with anything Trollosi posts. He's the embodiment of click bait. Rosenthal mentioned Lindblom, so the interest there is likely legit. Seems more of a realistic target than some of the bigger names.
  16. AJ, BJ, Glaus, Overbay, and Molina. I was really excited for that season.

    NBA Thread

The rest of the league handles minute distribution and player minutes in general very carefully. Nick Nurse on the other hand just plays everyone he likes 40 minutes a night, even players in their 30's playing their first game in weeks. He's probably done managing loads after last season.
  18. James Paxton who they didn't sign and Jake Marisnick.
