  1. What a buzzkill after the win in the first game. Thornton better not start another game when Hatch and Kay are in the pen.
  2. Every time there is a fly ball, I am never confident a catch will be made until the ball reaches the glove. This OF is very bad defensively.
  3. Whatever happened to using Font as an opener? Thornton is likely not a big league starter, so having him follow someone is probably maximizing whatever he can provide in that role.
  4. Plus, Drury's parents might be watching, so had to put him in the lineup in one of these games.
  5. Agreed. If they want to swap Alford with Davis, then I get it, but McKinney really doesn't do anything well to have a spot as a reserve OF. Having a speedster off the bench for pinch running purposes is a big asset with the expanded rosters. Hopefully they swap McKinney for Davis soon.
  6. As a 4th/5th OF, Davis is probably the better player as historically he has been able to hit LHP in the minors, has speed, and is a legit CF. Alford just couldn't hit enough.
  7. Romano, Borucki, Merryweather.....there is the makings of a damn fine pen.
  8. His name is Buntoyo for a reason.
  9. Merryweather is a FA after 2026 assuming he's on the big league roster going forward. Of course, he'll be 35 by then.
  10. I like that Gurriel pinch hits with 2 out and a runner on 1st, but not with the bases loaded and 1 out an inning earlier.
  11. If his K% is going to be over 30% and his walk rate around 2%, then yes, he's going to be a high exit velo below average hitter. The 10% BB% he had last season was encouraging, but that seems to have disappeared so far.
  12. A HR would be nice here, Vlad.
  13. Vlad hitting a single is like having Kendrys Morales on base. The fact that he's 21 and I'm saying that is sad.
  14. He missed all of 2018, threw 6 innings in 2019, and then got hurt in spring training this year. He turns 29 in a few months. He's probably a reliever at best.
  15. Looked pretty good there.
  16. My favorite Gibby ejection. Noticed that JD was pissed off and testing the umpire, so runs out there, pushes his player to the side, and lets the ump have it. I can't even imagine what Charlie would have done in that situation aside from be scared for his life.
  17. The Legend finally about to make an appearance.
  18. Man, I was somewhat optimistic about Hernandez with his statcast numbers since the 2nd half of last year + his walk rate, but if he's not walking at all anymore, it's going to be hard for him to be an above average hitter.
  19. Sounds about right. Or he'll let some of his players get thrown out first, then allow the umpire to yell at him shortly after.
  20. The key will be the borderline low pitches. Anderson wasn't getting those called strikes. If he does the same for Howard, then fair game. Can't change incompetence, just have to hope he's consistent for both sides.
  21. Big DP. Time for Howard to get all the borderline pitches called strikes now.
  22. Hopefully Montoyo politely discusses the strike zone with the umps later.
  23. Seriously, if the ump wants to call a strike on the outside pitch that is 2-3 inches off the plate for both sides, then I can live with that as long as he's consistent. But the curve ball down the F'n middle called a ball is insane.
  24. And we have Carapazza in the 2nd game. This will be a fun double header.
