  1. Biggio has hit .417 in 12 PA against Yarbrough, and Jansen .000 (6 PA). I figured maybe Buntoyo was using a small sample of H2H numbers to justify this, but that actually makes the move look worse (which is tough to do). "Turn the lineup over" isn't a thing, Charlie. It never was a thing. No one bats one of their best hitters, if not their best hitter with Bo out, 8th. No other f'n team in baseball would do this, in any era.
  2. Tonight's lineup (not a typo): 1. Gurriel 2. Grichuk 3. JANSEN 4. Hernandez 5. Vlad 6. Shaw 7. Drury 8. BIGGIO 9. Espinal Montoyo might be the worst manager in the history of sports, nevermind just the Jays franchise or MLB. Every team sport ever played.
  3. Huge trade.
  4. He seems to have a SP repertoire, but he'll be 29 in September and hasn't had a SP workload since 2017 due to injury. If the 2021 season is the full 162 games, then they might keep him as a SP just because depth is going to play a much bigger factor in a full season than it will in a 60 game season, but my guess is that his future role is in the pen. This is the fruits of accumulating so much SP depth on the 40 man roster. Most will not be big league starters, but you might be able to hit on a couple, and the rest could work out of the pen if their stuff plays up in that role.
  5. ....unless the Yankees get him. Definitely wishing all the best to Alford. Seems like a good guy and easy to root for. Hopefully he goes to a team that gives him a chance to play.
  6. Hell yes!
  7. Tellez and Vlad make playing 1B look like CF.
  8. This is scary.
  9. Realmuto is pinch hitting.
  10. Wow I thought that was gone.
  11. Wags and Yamaguchi deserve a lot of credit in this game for keeping the Phils scoreless for 5 innings. Still one inning to go with the meat of their order coming up, so far from over.
  12. Holy s***
  13. More than 50% of each league is going to make the playoffs this year, and Trout still won't make it. It's insane how bad the Angels have wasted his prime so far.
  14. Too bad we don't have an infielder capable of hitting RHP that could have been in the lineup instead of Panik.
  15. Just got to chip away here.
  16. Let Wags and Yamaguchi finish this game. Don't use anyone good.
  17. What a buzzkill after the win in the first game. Thornton better not start another game when Hatch and Kay are in the pen.
  18. Every time there is a fly ball, I am never confident a catch will be made until the ball reaches the glove. This OF is very bad defensively.
  19. Whatever happened to using Font as an opener? Thornton is likely not a big league starter, so having him follow someone is probably maximizing whatever he can provide in that role.
  20. Plus, Drury's parents might be watching, so had to put him in the lineup in one of these games.
  21. Agreed. If they want to swap Alford with Davis, then I get it, but McKinney really doesn't do anything well to have a spot as a reserve OF. Having a speedster off the bench for pinch running purposes is a big asset with the expanded rosters. Hopefully they swap McKinney for Davis soon.
  22. As a 4th/5th OF, Davis is probably the better player as historically he has been able to hit LHP in the minors, has speed, and is a legit CF. Alford just couldn't hit enough.
  23. Romano, Borucki, Merryweather.....there is the makings of a damn fine pen.
  24. His name is Buntoyo for a reason.
  25. Merryweather is a FA after 2026 assuming he's on the big league roster going forward. Of course, he'll be 35 by then.
