  1. Never doubt Dolis.
  2. Hits the first batter, and then 3 straight no where near the strike zone.
  3. Cole-Dolis-Bass in a 1 run game where the Jays may not score again is scary.
  4. Man, Ryu is so good.
  5. Went from "hope Ryu can pitch the 6th" to "hope the Jays still have the lead after the 5th" real quick.
  6. Ryu needs 2 quick outs after that Alfaro AB.
  7. The Detroit f***ing Tigers are up 3-0 in the 1st. Need to win.
  8. Can't f*** up on the bases if you hit it out. Nice Gurriel.
  9. Play Panik over Villar. I've seen enough.
  10. Dan: "Should Teoscar try to steal 2nd?" Buck: "With the way the Jays have run tonight, I'd let Rowdy hit". Both laugh 2 pitches later..........
  11. Villar so far is making me want to apologize to Joe Panik. That's not good.
  12. This team has the IQ of a raisin.
  13. I thought Montoyo had a hard on for Panik, but at least he used him lower in the lineup. Villar must be Professional and a half to be batting 3rd on a new team two consecutive nights.
  14. I see it sticking around as well. As much as I hate Manfred, I think all the changes implemented this season are positive for the game (3 batter minimum, runner on 2nd in Extras, DH in the NL). All of those rules, plus the expanded playoffs, can stay long term as far as I'm concerned. Just make sure to add the "choose your opponent" feature to the playoffs moving forward.
  15. That's the unfortunate/unfair part of this region based schedule. The Central is so mediocre in both leagues that teams like the Tigers, White Sox, etc, can look good over a 60 game stretch (although I think the White Sox are legit, or very close to it, even in a normal schedule). The Jays have the AL East, which has the O's and Red Sox, but everyone else is either really good or not a pushover. If the Jays miss the playoffs after the trade deadline they had, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but man would that be a huge disappointment. Just to see a team like the f'n Tigers sneak in. Hopefully, the Jays can hold their head above water in the 10 games against the Yankees. 1 vs MIA 5 vs BOS 10 vs NYY 4 vs PHI 3 vs BAL 3 vs NYM If they go 13-13 the rest of the way they finish 31-29. That's probably good enough, but not a lock anymore due to the Tigers suddenly winning.
  16. I think more than anything it makes games quicker. Extra innings benefit nobody. If most extra inning games end in the 10th, that's probably a good thing. That's one rule I see sticking around.
  17. Bichette, Vlad, and Biggio come from money. They have HOF or very good MLB level fathers who made millions playing in the league. I could see all of them waiting until free agency. This is not an Acuna/Albies situation where AA took advantage of kids who came from little/nothing. The Jays are going to have to ante up here.
  18. After this weekend, 14 of the Jays last 20 games are against the Yankees and Phillies. I thought the 8th spot was in the bag but if the f’n Tigers decide to be a .500 team all of a sudden, then that becomes a lot more questionable. Anything can happen in a small sample size. I guess this is the “fun” part of the 60 game schedule.
  19. Tigers leading 6-1 over the Brewers in the 6th. With a win tonight, the Tigers are somehow half a game behind the Jays.
  20. No sane baseball person will ever follow the "best hitter bats 8th" thing unless it is a punishment to the hitter. I thought maybe there's some statistical explanation for "s***** hitter bats 3rd" that Montoyo seems to love to do, but likely the same 4D chess that always explains his moves. I'll just add that I liked what Buntoyo did with the pitching tonight. Offense was the downfall.
  21. Pitching was very good tonight. Offense has been s***.
  22. Is there some kind of analytical data that shows the #3 hitter in the lineup could be one of your worst hitters and it won't matter? Montoyo has used Jansen, Shaw (not the worst but has been bad this season), and Villar in that spot. He's used Tellez there as well, but at least he's been decent this season. Just seems like he doesn't take that particular spot in the lineup seriously. Maybe someone who knows about lineup structure better than me can explain this.
  23. Disagree. Other than his first (2?) outings where they brought him into the game in the 10th with a runner on 2nd, he's been very good.
  24. McGuire is worse than Thole.
  25. Merryweather better be in the 2021 rotation. He's legit.
