There are obviously more reasons than this (salary cap vs. non salary cap leagues, MLB suffered more losses due to Covid, etc), but I don't see the point in having the non tender date, 40 man roster cut off, and Rule 5 draft happen around a month (or more) into the off season. If all of this s*** was done by the first week of the off season, then we might have seen at least some activity by now. Not sure why everything needs to be so spread out. Even pre Covid this was an issue with MLB off seasons. Last winter was a bit of an aberration since there was a lot of money thrown around.
