  1. Jays players, and baseball players in general, seem to be more active on Instagram than Twitter.
  2. As a point of reference regarding the signing bonus, here is how they did Grichuk's contract (which had a $5m bonus): 5 years/$52M (2019-23) $5M signing bonus, paid in $1M installments on 7/1/19, 10/1/19, 4/1/20, 7/1/20 and 4/1/21 19:$7M, 20:$12M, 21-23:$9,333,333 annually
  3. Bauer can do it all.
  4. Hard to say without knowing what it would cost, but at face value, Bauer would be the better way to go. Younger, healthier, more upside. You'd feel pretty good going into a playoff series with Ryu-Bauer-Pearson. However, if Bauer is not an option for whatever reason, then Paxton + Tanaka would be a solid fallback, especially if both are on one year deals (would minimize risk for the Jays tremendously).
  5. Didi at 3B would be great, but I'm not moving Bo off SS for anyone that is available in free agency right now. If Didi would be willing to move to 3B (or 2B) full time, then he's a nice fit.
  6. Agreed, Brantley was more of a luxury signing, not a necessity. Would have been awesome to have him in the lineup, but he wasn't filling a need.
  7. Hazel is now officially the spokesperson for the "Source: Trust me bro" meme.
  8. "Jays signing Brantley to a 3 year deal". Hours later... "Jays did not come close to signing Brantley". Interested to know what the hell actually happened here.
  9. I missed this earlier. Last night Rosenthal got the figures to Yates' deal wrong in a Tweet, and today did this: When Kenny is crediting "The Honest Jays Fan" as a source, then something is wrong. I hope he's feeling ok.
  10. Alpha Atkins going to pivot to Bauer. No sweat.
  11. Hazel's Twitter timeline/mentions about to explode.
  12. Brantley back to the Astros. What??
  13. Exactly, so this isn't on Hazel, it's on everyone. The most credible MLB media out there confirmed/cosigned it. Not sure what that means. Maybe they hit a snag somewhere.
  14. Hazel wasn't the only one to report it though, practically everyone important confirmed it (Ken, Passan, Heyman, Sherman). So either they all blindly followed Hazel or they heard the same thing. Either way, hope this gets done.
  15. Yeah, Kirk is either starting catcher in the bigs (Jansen traded) or he starts in AAA. I don't think they'll use him as a backup, and there will be no DH AB's for him with Brantley and others in the fold.
  16. So that's Chatwood, Yates, Springer, and Brantley added. There's either going to be trades or a few DFA's coming up.
  17. Not sure how Atkins is going to make all of this fit, but Brantley is a great hitter. Can't go wrong adding a bat like that to the lineup.
  18. Out of that group, Sonny Gray. He fits what this front office likes with pitchers (lots of spin rate) and has a great contract. Helps that he's on the Reds who aren't run particularly well so the cost may not be too bad.
  19. Springer putting in that work already.
  20. If the Jays sign Brantley, put Vlad at 3B and Tellez at 1B, then we are potentially looking at a lineup with: Springer, Brantley, Bo, Vlad, Biggio, Hernandez, Gurriel, Tellez, and Jansen/Kirk....assuming Grichuk is the one that is moved. I'm sure Montoyo will find a way to have Jansen bat 3rd and Brantley 8th, but hard to mess up that lineup.
  21. Heyman saying the deal is 6/150. Holy s***.
