  1. Orioles fans can't be counted on to do anything right.
  2. I think the reason people are "upset" with Teoscar over Mullins (aside from the obvious - performance) is that Teoscar outside of Toronto isn't a hugely popular player. Trout and Judge are well known. Them making it, even if the numbers didn't justify it (they do), would make sense. Hernandez is just as much a no name as Mullins is so it's easier to question that one. To me, Winker over Betts is more disappointing for the star power reason. Betts is way more known but yet somehow wasn't voted in. Neither was Muncy, so maybe LA fans just don't care. I think the AS game should always be a popularity contest. Baseball needs to showcase their most known and charismatic players. If some no name shmuck was outperforming Tatis, there's no chance I'd want that player in the game over Fernando. In the case of Hernandez versus the field, everyone in that spot is relatively unknown outside of baseball circles, so it can be more of a debate. Either way, as others have said, if Canadians spamming the AS votes help with attracting players here, then even better. It may even slightly override the whole "you have to play in a minor league or spring training park until the end of time" thing going on right now.
  3. Where Bauer is going to get hurt from this is his social media platform. He built up a pretty decent following on YouTube and Twitter, more than most baseball players. I can't imagine he'll be able to post a video or picture with comments enabled for a long time. However, if he's found not guilty, then nothing will happen to his career. He'll get booed everywhere for as long as people remember this, and then life will go on.
  4. Yeah Teoscar really shouldn't be there over Mullins, but happy for him. Great story and he's really developed into a good hitter. Plus, if Canadian fans were going to spam votes, then better him than Grichuk.
  5. I think where her story falls apart is there is no explanation as to why she went back to him a 2nd time if she was assaulted/raped the first time. They seem to gloss over that, unless I missed it. Bauer is still an idiot for letting his dick override his better judgment though. Rough sex, BDSM, or whatever the hell he's into is not a good idea for a star athlete, especially one who just signed a huge contract. Wait until you're retired from the sport you sick freak.
  6. Agreed players shouldn't show up the manager and teammates, but an exception is made for Montoyo (and Panik). I have my reasons.
  7. Eh, Chatwood sucks, but Montoyo deserves to get yelled at by anyone, so I'll let it slide. Much like Stripling yelling at Panik. Since it was Panik, all good.
  8. With Montoyo as manager you kinda had to know that Cimber's first appearance would be in a 5-1 deficit and not the 6-6 tie in extras last night.
  9. So the guy Buntoyo felt was capable of pitching the 10th inning of a tie game is now coming in the 5th inning of a 4 run deficit. At least he's using Murphy in the right spot this time.
  10. Jays are 24-18 on the road and 17-18 at home. I blame Canada.

    NBA Thread

I think Siakam can be the Draymond on a championship team as he proved in 2019 (3rd option, defensive star, etc) but the issue is the Raptors maxed him out and he's not a player that you build around. So if the Raptors keep him and he's their #1 option, then they will be a ceiling in terms of how far they can go. One of the reasons Masai is a great executive is because he always thinks big. He didn't value being in a play-in game because it ultimately meant nothing. If he sees a limit to a Siakam lead team, then trading him for younger pieces and a shorter contract makes sense. Maybe something like Wiseman, Wiggins, #7, and #14 for Siakam, #46, and #47. Squeezing an extra 1st would be nice.
  12. When Murphy had 1st and 3rd with 1 out, he had only faced 2 batters, so while they needed a GB in that spot, they couldn't have brought Cimber in even in Montoyo had a brain. The smart thing would have been to bring Cimber in to start the 10th and deal with the consequences. He's the only established RP in the pen behind Romano. Losing with him on the mound is easier to stomach than the Murphy/Saucedo combo which Buntoyo inexplicably relied on in the 10th inning. Either way, after all the bad luck the Jays faced when Sheffield was pitching, it felt like a loss from the time it was 4-1. It wasn't one of the gut wrenching ones like losing leads against Cleveland, Boston, Baltimore, etc, etc.
  13. Murphy in and Saucedo warming. Charlie wanted that L tonight. If Cimber was available he should have been in. Lack of Ks or not he is an actual MLB reliever.
  14. Randal was so upset that he didn’t ground into a DP the normal way he had to do something about it.
  15. If MLB is going to have YouTube games (which like I said before I think is a good idea), they need to invest in a real commentary team in situations like this.
  16. Jays not beating up Sheffield is going to hurt them. M's pen is actually good.
  17. The game's been going on for 2 hours and we're only in the top of the 5th inning. With the Jays pen having to throw 6+ innings, we could be here until the morning.
  18. That Hernandez called strike 3 ruined that inning. Jays should be slaughtering Sheffield, now have to hope Thornton and the pen can hold them for 6 innings.
  19. Jays offense better score off Sheffield. He looks like crap tonight and got lucky in the first two innings.
  20. The issue is none of the people talking are actual commentators. They work studio shows on MLB Network. Big difference and it shows.
  21. I think the YouTube games are a great idea. Everyone has access to it regardless of location and that's really MLB's biggest problem (reaching people) given their reliance on cable.
  22. They offered Semien a long term deal before settling on one year, so maybe they'd be open to overpaying him after the season, but my guess is the long term offer they gave him prior to the season was slanted towards the team, and his next FA deal will not be. The front office has spent big in free agency, but in the two recent examples, they went with Ryu (pitching) and Springer (an outfielder in an org absolutely devoid of capable OF talent). If the team views Martin and Groshans as long term pieces, then I could see them continuing to go short term with infield/outfield fixes until they can incorporate those guys in. Of course, I'm not saying the Jays can't re-sign Semien and still incorporate prospects. They could. Also, prospects fail while Semien is a legit elite talent, so obviously bringing him back is the higher percentage move short term. Just that would they spend over $100m to do it?
  23. Without question the majority of players who try it will fail and end up picking one or the other. Ohtani is just a once in a century talent, literally.
  24. Yeah if Ohtani keeps this up, then he'll win MVP easily regardless of how WAR shakes out, and honestly, I'd be fine with that. The modern day Babe Ruth winning the MVP is perfectly reasonable. Going to be interesting to see what happens with two way players in the future. Ohtani's success might open the flood gates in terms of prospects wanting to become two way players, if it hasn't already.
