  1. Lol at Panik as DH. I don’t mind the Jays collapsing this season if it means Buntoyo is fired. Not taking this back. I don’t want this doofus managing the 2022-25 teams that figure to be better than this one. Take one on the chin this season.
  2. Ohtani is in the HR derby. If Vlad and Tatis participate as well, then that’s a perfect storm for MLB marketing. Home run derby with the biggest young stars in Denver where the ball will fly out (unless the Manfred baseballs get in the way). Promote the hell out of that.
  3. It's easy to get fooled by Grichuk hot streaks because when he's hot, he's really hot. You want to believe he's turned a corner. Then the cold streak comes and you realize that he is what he is, and always will be. Even if Springer were healthy all season I would have expected Grichuk to play a lot more than Tellez (minor league managers will always favor the vetrins), and I expect nothing different when Springer gets back. Unfortunately, Grichuk is probably never going to be used as a true 4th OF as long as he's on this team given his "tenure" and contract. If he ever was used that way, then he'd be a lot more valuable over the course of a season. Since 2018: Grichuk: 3.8 WAR, 1587 PA Pillar: 5.1 WAR, 1545 PA Expectations for the Grichster should be pretty darn low at this point.
  4. Panik will play at least 4 days a week even when Springer gets back. I'm not sure how, but Charles will find a way.
  5. Stripling has resembled a very solid bottom of the rotation starter since he and Walker fixed whatever his issue was. That's one bright spot in all of this.
  6. The Jays are 20-18 on the road despite the hardest schedule in the league, but can't play any home real games. At least the Raptors were at the end of their run when they were forced to play elsewhere. One elite Vlad season going to waste playing in ST complexes and minor league parks where the fans cheer the other team. BS. / rant
  7. I want Gurriel to get the GW hit and then flip the crowd off. Or just flip the crowd off regardless of the result.
  8. Yelling at Panik for any reason is justified.
  9. Why the f*** is Panik playing? I’m positive Montoyo is doing this intentionally to troll us.
  10. For his career, Clint actually hits LHP slightly worse than RHP too. I probably would have saved Romano for DJ onwards, but I don't play 4D chess.
  11. Grichuk has 10 GDP this season. You can set your watch to it.
  12. Yeah I know there are a ton of injuries, but this pen is one you'd expect to see on the 2019 team. They won't beat good teams consistently like this.
  13. Well, this one's not on Buntoyo. Outside of Romano, this pen is ass. Just have to put someone in and pray.
  14. Yeah seriously, Canada needs to open up already. Jays are 20-18 on the road against the toughest schedule in the league. The lack of home field is really annoying, especially on nights like tonight where the Yankees are going to be cheered by practically the entire crowd.
  15. Grichuk is a really good 4th OF. Streaky hitter who is doing what he's always done except with fewer K's. Definitely should be moved down when Springer gets back since it appears he will still play everyday over Tellez.
  16. Glasnow's elbow would have never exploded had he still been allowed to use sticky goo/rosin/sunscreen on his hands. Seems legit.
  17. I don't know about a 2015 run, but a significant hot streak hasn't happened yet, and the schedule eases up considerably after the Yankees series. A nice hot streak heading into the break seems very possible, especially if Springer/Kirk get back soon. The bullpen is still going to be an issue though. Against bad teams the Jays might be able to get away with it.
  18. But by bringing in Dolis to face the meat of their order, you're greatly reducing the chances of there even being a 10th inning. So while yes the Jays would have had to bring in Dolis or Castro or whoever for the 10th (assuming Romano kept them scoreless in the 9th), just getting to the 10th itself should have been the goal for Montoyo. As mentioned, the Jays could have scored a bunch of runs in the top half and given the scrub RP the Jays brought in some wiggle room.
  19. If you go to the 8:37 mark in this video, even Barkley is making jokes about it on Inside the NBA.
  20. Oh I know it was likely all they could do based on the CBA/MLBPA, but it just sounds funny in writing. I guess the embarrassment of being lumped into the cheating category should act as enough of a deterrent now that pitchers can't get away with it.
  21. Lol at suspension with pay. Also known as, PTO days.
  22. Apparently Romano was available but Montoyo said he was going to use him in the 9th only if the Jays took the lead. Atkins can no longer be called Alpha Atkins. Not as long as Buntoyo is managing.
