    I can't imagine a scenario where Guillermo and Hudgens are brought back if the Jays get swept or lose in the WC round. Someone has to take the fall for the offense and it won't be the hitters (half of them will be replaced anyway due to impending free agency). Other than that, I wouldn't expect much change. 3 million fans and a playoff appearance. Rogers is probably happy.

    Even vetrins like Springer and Chapman suddenly saw signifiicant drops in pull % this season from last season. It has to be an org thing. I don't recall seeing many balls pulled in this game. Everything was dead center or hit the other way. It's infuriating to watch. Expecting to get 4-5 hits in an inning mixed with some walks is not going to work in the playoffs.

    Losing after only scoring a run with no home runs. This was the most 2023 Blue Jays game ever.

    This offense was unwatchable in the regular season, so we probably shouldn't be surprised at what we are seeing so far.

    A-Rod saying they've already swung and missed more on Swanson's split than Gausman's.

    The Jays don't hit home runs. The hitters can't pull anything. They need to string together 3-4 hits to come back in this game and that's just not a realistic approach in the playoffs against good pitching.

    That looked like blocking the plate to me as well but Bo was out by a mile so not sure what would have happened on a challenge, although I'm not even sure what the rule is with that sort of thing.

    And everything seems to be hit to center or the other way.

    This is one of the few times I hope Schneider goes with a quicker hook. Whether it’s tipping, or command, or both, the Twins are getting great swings/contact on Gausman, and the umpire just saved what could have been a big inning for the Twins there.

    A-Rod on the ESPN broadcast is saying Gausman is tipping as well.

    Yeah get past the Twins and lose to Houston would be fine with me. Anything better than that would be gravy. After last year I’m not getting my hopes up for anything.

    Exactly. The alternative would be to do what the NBA does, which is give every game a prime time spot but have the playoffs last for what feels like 15 years (2+ months). Baseball isn't built like that.

    Use Richards for 2-3 innings so he’s not available for the WC series.

    Yeah I was rooting for Jay Jackson. Tough break. Good guy with a good story. Not sure I would have trusted him in a playoff game but I can say the same about Richards given how he’s pitched, and he’s likely making it.

    Yeah the Twins could definitely beat the Jays in a 3 game series, but they are the far better matchup.

    CA Heineman, 1B Biggio, 2B Schneider, SS Espinal, 3B Chapman, OF Merrifield, OF Varsho, OF Eden, DH whoever How they get through 9 innings pitching wise is the question. They need to call up Francis or some other move. If only Manoah was available. When you need a loss, I can't think of a better SP to go to in 2023.

    Now that the Jays are in, yes, tank for the better position. The Astros can still win the West if they win tomorrow and the Rangers lose, so they should have something to play for. The Jays benefit by losing so put the shittiest lineup out there possible.

    Jays are in and don’t have to use Gausman tomorrow! We made it through this frustrating as hell regular season. Now time to get hot in October.

    If the Rangers win, then the Jays won't be starting Gausman, and they haven't called up Francis or anyone that could give them length, so the Jays might tank tomorrow regardless in that scenario.
