  1. Saw the play.. not much you can do there. Davis did beat it out, barely. We really should've scored something the previous inning. But we probably weren't going to win last night anyway, due to Sonny Gray pitching.. we were lucky to keep it so close! And these doom-and-gloomers who want to sell.. be quiet! We're only 3 games back of a wild card to a Twins team that will likely collapse to or under .500 very soon, as the team is regressing hard.. they've been below .500 since their 20-7 May. And Detroit is in the EXACT same boat as we are.. except they would be wiser to sell because of all those bad contracts. Tampa has no money to make additions, and Baltimore is below .500 and faces gutting in free agency. We're still better positioned than other teams, if we add pitching. At this point, the Yanks are almost certain to run with the East due to a weak schedule, so we should focus on catching Houston and Minnesota. And regarding Houston, their recent run has been schedule related.. Boston and Texas aren't contending.
  2. O's lose again, Yanks refuse to cool down.. at least until they go on the road. And yet, Duquette says the O's are buyers.. they should be sellers. The team's going to be gutted in free agency and headed for a rebuild.. don't empty the farm system further!
  3. No upgrades are likely. The team is not trading Judge, Severino, Sanchez or any other top prospects for rentals. Of course, their weak schedule helps.. they haven't faced a decent team since the Angels. http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2015/07/no_yankees_untouchable_as_mlb_trade_deadline_nears.html
  4. At least until they go on the road.. and I'm split on that upcoming series vs. the Twins, as the Jays are chasing Minnesota. And I really hope KC beats up Houston this weekend..
  5. Now they just need to stay healthy..
  6. We really need Pompey back in LF soon... or AA to acquire a natural LF.
  7. Hutch may be scratched due to flu-like symptoms. If so, R.A. Dickey will start tomorrow on regular rest.
  8. Gausman is garbage.. wasn't this guy supposed to be an ace by now? 3-0 Yankees.
  9. Sonny Gray has weaker splits vs. right handers. That's why all the righties. May not need much anyway, considering how poor the A's are vs. lefties, and Vogt regressing hard (2-13 so far in the 2nd half, .192 in July.)
  10. No Smoak in the lineup: 1.J Reyes SS 2.J Donaldson 3B 3.J Bautista RF 4.E Encarnacion DH 5.C Colabello 1B 6.R Martin C 7.K Pillar CF 8.D Valencia LF 9.D Travis 2B A's: 1.B Burns CF 2.S Vogt 1B 3.B Zobrist 2B 4.B Butler DH 5.J Smolinski RF 6.B Lawrie 3B 7.J Phegley C 8.M Canha LF 9.M Semien SS
  11. He'll be right back up next start. Vargas looks headed for Tommy John..
  12. No I am not. And it doesn't matter.. Boston blew the game (again), losing 8-3. Basically a 4-team race in the AL East now.. at least the Angels are helping us out by beating the Twins right now.
  13. Wait until we get to the A's pen.. their pen is near the worst in baseball.
  14. Good news for the Jays--Sox lead 3-1 on Houston. Look, the Astros really need to acquire a SP.. outside of Kuechel, that rotation is mediocre and far below the Angels, and will likely mean the Astros will not be playing in October. Especially with no Springer in the lineup..
  15. Carrera yes, but Collabello is still a useful piece offensively.
  16. How long Zobrist stays an A is really questionable.. rumor has it the Mets are talking to the A's about a trade: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-trade-talks-ben-zobrist-heating-article-1.2299686?cid=bitly&utm_content=buffer91a04&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=NYDNSport
  17. MASN broadcasters are delusional.. the O's don't have the assets to even think about making a deal for Justin Upton or Carlos Gomez. Padres and Brewers want a lot for them, which the O's can't offer (29th ranked farm system.)
  18. It won't matter if the A's defence throws the ball away so much (worst in AL.)
  19. Jays lineup.. are you happy they're actually playing Smoak now? 1.J Reyes SS 2.J Donaldson 3B 3.J Bautista RF 4.E Encarnacion DH 5.J Smoak 1B 6.R Martin C 7.E Carrera LF 8.K Pillar CF 9.D Travis 2B A's lineup: 1.B Burns CF 2.S Vogt 1B 3.B Butler DH 4.B Zobrist 2B 5.J Smolinski LF 6.B Lawrie 3B 7.J Phegley C 8.J Reddick RF 9.M Semien SS Not impressed with the A's lineup.
  20. Preston Guilmet DFAd. Guess the Dodgers don't care for him either, just like Matt West.. they're no more than AAA filler, and aren't guys who belong on an MLB roster.
  21. And who's going to lead off?
  22. I think Gibbons hits him 9th due to the lineup's depth, and because it's like having a 2nd leadoff guy. He's not a guy that should hit middle of the order...yet. And he struggled as a leadoff man, remember? As for Pedroia.. I meant that he is a problem in the clubhouse. Of course, potentially losing 6 of 7 doesn't help.. major changes are coming in Boston, which will include trades and the canning of John Farrell, Ben Cherington and Larry Lucchino (Nick Cafardo said Tom Werner is planning to take more of a role in the Sox day-to day operations. Don't be surprised if he cleans house if this is true.)
