  1. And those projections predict Minnesota to collapse down the stretch (very likely.. they're at least a year away.). Minnesota just doesn't have the depth to stay competitive down the stretch, mostly due to pitching and ownership unlikely to make any significant additions, as they are still rebuilding (they're 21-25 since that 20-7 May)
  2. Maybe a mid-level prospect at best, as he is a free agent at season's end.
  3. Boxberger, Jepsen, McGee, Jaso, DeJesus, possibly Loney, Forsythe and while unlikely and a long shot, Longoria. This franchise is headed for a rebuild and is basically waiting for a new stadium, relocation, or the attendance to reach levels that are typical for an MLB team.
  4. 3B Conor Gillaspie purchased by Angels from the White Sox to fill in for injured David Freese.
  5. If they lose the upcoming series to the Rays, they should sell.
  6. Also not listed--Jaso and DeJesus could be sold off as well according to dingbat SB Nation writer Chris Cotillo: http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/7/23/9027201/rays-trade-rumors-buyers-sellers-dejesus-jaso-jepsen Basically, the ownership is at a point they feel no new stadium is coming and are trying to clear as much salary as possible to reflect plunging attendance. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they entertain offers for Longoria, as his contract is looking less like a steal due to declining offensive skills, although they'd have to be blown away.
  7. Not a surprise. Rays can't afford to pay them $5M a year.. especially with the growing albatross of the Longoria deal (due to his declining power and defensive skills, his contract is no longer a steal, and threatens to cripple the franchise long term.), and the fact they may not be in St. Pete in a few years, and may end up in Charlotte, San Antonio, Montreal, or somewhere else.
  8. Farrell seems to be losing the clubhouse in Boston.. and their bullpen is collapsing again vs. the Astros. Why haven't any firings happened yet?
  9. I'd take Ross. He really needs to get on a better team with at least competent D (they had Middlebrooks playing SS the other day!)
  10. Considering the mess AJ Preller has in San Diego, we have a better chance of fleecing him.. most of what he traded has blossomed outside of San Diego.
  11. Seattle/Detroit game shows no sign of end.. still tied at 2. Keep it going.. we want a tired Mariners team when we get there tomorrow.
  12. Here we go again.. didn't this kind of play cost us the game last night? Very close play there..
  13. Please make a deal! Cashner and Ross have control through 2016 (and 2017 for Ross).
  14. Bam! Martin with a jack! 2-0 Jays. And Otero's likely coming in soon, as Pomeranz isn't stretched out to start yet.
  15. Pomeranz won't go very long in this game after throwing 21 pitches in the 1st.. at most, he might get 50-60 pitches, as he hasn't started in two months.
  16. Bullpen game mostly for Oakland. Pomeranz probably can't go more than 2 or 3 innings (not stretched out.. he's been used in short stints as a middle relievers for the past two months.) Could be a long day for Oakland.
  17. MLB.com really needs to update that list...
  18. O's have bigger issues than the Jays. 29th ranked farm system, losing a good chunk of their team to free agency, with their big offensive pieces Davis and Wieters not expected to return (Boras clients), Chen not expected to return (expecting a huge raise beyond Baltimore's price range) and they stand to lose a good chunk of the bullpen as well (Hunter, O'Day), and Norris regressing so badly that he's basically a mop-up man now. Oh, and Dylan Bundy's hurt and out of minors options after this season, and Gausman has been erratic.
  19. Those two prospects the A's got for Kazmir are #19 and #22 according to MLB.com in the Astros system. Considering Kazmir's an expiring contract, that's a fair return.
  20. Kazmir's been traded.
  21. Not really.. it was mostly bad luck last night. And of course, that play at the end of the game would've likely scored, no matter who plays 1B.
  22. Only 3 games back of a fading Twins team that is likely to be out of it by mid to late August, especially with their upcoming sked? Give me a break. And BTW, the Twins road record is ghastly..
  23. Not sure what we'll get against Kazmir.. this is the first decent offensive team he's faced in a while (when he hasn't left due to injury.. he would've likely been lit up by the Yankees had he not left after 3 IP in a recent start.) Seattle and Minnesota aren't exactly offensive powerhouse, or even contenders. Don't be fooled by recent performances.. he has faced a number of offensively challenged teams recently. Whether King Felix wins will depend if the Mariners offense shows up..
  24. Shut up. No one expected A-Rod and Tex to have rebound years, or have a strong bullpen. And Brett Gardner's having a strong season.. while they're the faves to win the AL East, it will depend on Gardner, Tex and A-Rod staying healthy. They're doing this despite below average defense and a mediocre rotation, which is offset by a top-tier bullpen. How they will fare in October, if they get there, is another question..
  25. And meanwhile Cherington is destroying the Red Sox franchise.. imagine where the Sox would be had Theo stayed.. they'd be in much better shape than they are now.
