  1. And pretty much the entire mainstream media.. this Yankees team was picked to be last in the AL East, with Boston being the top team, not the reverse. Some samples: http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/56332/mlb-predictions-the-final-standings http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/mlb-predictions-2015--standings--playoffs--awards-and-more-043325435.html Note the heavy appearance of the Yankees being 4th or 5th.. they blew these predictions badly! Red Sox are horrible, O's are in the same boat as the Jays, as is Tampa.
  2. Brandon Lyon is out of baseball. Unless you mean the equivalent..
  3. 3 and 5 out of wild cards. Still attainable..
  4. Tigers lose. I think you can pretty much put the "For Sale" sign up in Detroit now. Davis, Price, Cespedes are probably available now.
  5. And his Yanks are running away with the ENTIRE AL East. Best chance for the Rays, O's and Jays is the wild card. Seriously, can anyone stop these Yanks?
  6. To my knowledge, no. He never played a game for the A's, and resigned with the Jays about a month or so later after the A's non-tendered him.
  7. Well, the Rays are trying to bury the Tigers, as they lead 3-0.
  8. And hopefully the Padres eat some of that money, which they will likely have to because of that awful contract.
  9. Gag. One of the worst deals in Blue Jays history.. despite all the complaints about AA, his deals aren't so bad compared to this one.
  10. Agreed. At best, Clippard will likely be setting up Familia.. and the Mets really should be looking for another bat, as they need one if they're going to catch the Nats in the NL East.
  11. Basically dumping a player so that Castillo can play regularly so that the Sox can evaluate whether they made a good investment on him. Rutledge likely either goes to Pawtucket or to replace Weeks on the 25-man.
  12. And a A+ ball prospect. Clippard, despite his ERA, has been lousy this year, with increased walk issues and a dropoff in Ks.
  13. Clippard hasn't been good this year.
  14. Basically, not much of a deal. Rutledge isn't really much.. all he'll do is replace Jemile Weeks on the 25-man in Boston, and they'll likely call up JBJ or Castillo.
  15. Not much of a big deal.. Victorino is pretty worthless right now, and I bet Boston had to eat money. And Rutledge isn't a prospect.. he'll basically just replace Jemile Weeks on the Sox roster tomorrow, and is a horrible defensive infielder. Why do you think the Angels refused to give him a chance?
  16. And also according to Stark, Buck Showalter won't let this deal happen. Considering that the O's are on the fringe as is and stand to lose most of the core next season, making a deal with those guys would be idiotic.
  17. This deal will fall apart quickly. Unless the O's are willing to deal Gausman, Tillman or Chen + prospects in a deal, there's no chance of them making this trade. Plus, it's dependent on how the O's do this week vs. the Braves. O's don't have the prospect depth (29th ranked system) to make a deal.
  18. WTH are you talking about?? According to rumors, the Jays have some money to spend on the trade market. Mets can't take on salary because ownership is deep in debt due to the Bernie Madoff scandal. Otherwise, guys like Upton, Zobrist, etc. would be Mets by now.
  19. 10-5 rights, not happening. And the Mets can't take on salary due to their financial situation re: Bernie Madoff scandal.
  20. And another thing.. the AL East is weak outside of the Yankees. In fact, most of the AL is, unless you're KC, Yankees or Houston/LA. Twins have been sliding as of late, and have shown that they are not able to beat contending teams (14-17 vs. +.500 teams, terrible on the road, and facing a difficult August and September sked.) So the Jays, O's and Rays aren't out of it.
  21. No. Does anyone really think the Twins will stay a contender? They've played way over their head (no offense to Molitor). PECOTA and FanGraphs all say that the Jays will get at least the 2nd wild card, as they all think the Twins will fade badly down the stretch, as their lackluster pitching staff and OBP issues come back to haunt them when they play contenders down the stretch.
  22. And at the rate things are going, the Marlins will be worse off by the time Latos (gotten in the DeSclafani trade) gets dealt to a contender, Alvarez ends up getting TJS (likely) and Hech sees his salary soar after this season in arb, which likely means he'll be getting dealt again soon. Did I forget to mention the Marisnick deal has been disastrous, as Cosart, received in the trade, has vertigo issues.
  23. Sounds like a trade to the Cards imminent? After all, Detroit is likely going into sell mode after the Red Sox bloodied them last night, and they're facing a tough series with the Rays, which they will likely lose 2 of 3 or get swept (Odorizzi and Archer go in the series)
  24. Wonder if Mark DeRosa has some beef against the Jays or something, considering he played for them.
  25. Considering the competition, we have a good shot if AA is smart enough to add pitching.
