  1. Yeah a Lind/Valencia platoon would have been good, better than Smoak and Estrada anyway.
  2. He would have value as a platoon DH, not enough value to replace Valencia though.
  3. If only the Jays had a guy who destroys righties to pair up with somebody.
  4. That's what I'm thinking, He is fairly redundant.
  5. If EE misses time he would be a good platoon partner, can't see his usefulness unless of injury.
  6. That's true, Smoak is terrible.
  7. That's actually not so bad since the bet is whether or not he can get close to what he was. Viciedo is like 4 homeruns away from burning 2.5 mil.
  8. How s***** is that this has to be decided at the end of spring training, That's a lot of cash top bet on SSS.
  9. I hope he doesn't set foot in the outfield. He's at least a decent platoon partner for a worse case scenario.
  10. I'm loathed to say this, but Pillar.
  11. That is only going to happen if Saunders goes down again, I think Saunders injury made him realize he has no depth in the outfield since Dirks health isn't a guarantee.
  12. The age old question, How much is a win worth if the team can't make the playoffs?
  13. Because they want a return.
  14. Cecil is better value than Papelbon, but they are pretty close in terms of performance. Both likely 1 win players.
  15. I don't think AA will acquire any player that would come at a cost greater than Navarro. I imagine he will dig through other teams trash for depth, But this just pushed Pillar into a starter role. Although they will push Dirks to fill the gap.
  16. Also just moves a worse hitter into 1st or DH spots.
  17. there's a higher bar for DH, Should have went with "his bat doesn't even play at shortstop".
  18. A half win is optimistic, but I still think 2nd will be the worst performing position.
  19. And if there is one thing you want to give somebody who relapsed, It's lots of free time.
  20. It does, but it doesn't discount homeruns so much as tax their value. After a few extra homeruns it starts to credit the hitter more and more. Although I may be wrong, my opinion is based on personal anecdotal observations.
  21. Smoak is a flyer that could hit, but most likely will be mediocre or terrible. Estrada has always given up homeruns at an above average rate, but could be a 1.5 win starter. I would also argue Lind would be harder to replace than Smoak or Estrada.
  22. WAR values homeruns, not average fly ball distance, so a hitter friendly park can inflate a players WAR.
  23. I agree with all of that, but that is on average and not in a park as homer prone as Rogers centre. I would say that the groundball pitchers have a higher percentage, but fly ball pitchers have the volume. I personally would love to see a stat that is K% + IFFB%, It could be a clean out stat or something. If Estrada has a HR/9 of 1.4 I can't see how he will be useful.
  24. It's kind of odd that people think Smoak can be a good player because of Rogers centre, but Estrada won't be worse because of Rogers centre.
  25. If the other pitcher is a groundball pitcher, He has the advantage. All else being equal it could mean the difference.
