  1. He Had that skill the entire time he was in the minors and in his brief stint in the majors.
  2. The writing was on the wall when AA didn't sign any relievers.
  3. I agree with all of this, Walks will likely make or break his season. The one thing I would say is that the reason his ceiling is considered so high is because he has the stuff to limit hits, So it's not out of the realm of possibility that maintaining a low babip may be a skill he possesses. If he can manage under 8 H/9 and a HR/9 under .5, he will offset a lot of the damage the walks would cause. Better to give up Walks than hits.
  4. Castro would have made the team regardless, The injury has brought Osuna into the conversation though.
  5. Not really if they have the money. If money isn't an issue it would be smarter to keep Stroman and sign Price or Cueto.
  6. I wouldn't trade that much talent for a paid player, Just man up and sign a free agent.
  7. Even as a reliever Castro would still be worth a lot of surplus value.
  8. Goins is a gamer.
  9. My guess(which my be terrible/with bias) is Sanchez has around a 15% of being good, 35% chance of being okay, 35% chance of being replacement level, and 15% chance of being terrible.
  10. NO!!! I want him to masturbate for me.
  11. I would have bet a 100$ or something if I knew you personally. I wouldn't really care about the money though, It's about self satisfaction.
  12. they will suck regardless, so trading prospects for a catcher would be stupid.
  13. There is a very real chance Sanchez would be worth more WAR than Estrada as a starter. It's not certain, but it's a bet I would take.
  14. Norris only took a step forward last season, but both have such a small sample size that I look at scouting reports over stats or projections anyways. I'd keep Norris down only for control reasons, but If Sanchez or Estrada are blowing it I would bring him up quickly, Or if Norris was banging the door down.
  15. Both talented players in their own right. If it wasn't for injury, Osuna would likely have been competing with Norris and Sanchez.
  16. Estrada will be bad. Sanchez may be worse, but has a chance to be much better. Estrada could be a negative WAR player, Estrada's terrible WAR last season was buoyed by his great stint in the bullpen. Estrada being Below replacement value starter is just as likely as him being a 1.5 WAR starter.
  17. I don't know if you want to have Norris or Sanchez benched for almost a month throughout a season. Estrada is the guy you can yo-yo because nobody cares about him.
  18. A question that should be asked is who do you want to control for longer, The Jays will need one of Norris and Sanchez. The odd man out could give the Jays an extra year of control. The Jays need to manage both of their innings and if they both start the season with the club, both will be shutdown by September. May be best to start Estrada and Sanchez until Sanchez gets around 120 innings then move him to the pen, Can bring up Norris when the clock passes and move Estrada accordingly. Downside is Estrada will get lots of innings, but he's really the only option.
  19. The difference between scouts and projections are notable for Sanchez and the guys at fangraphs don't think his projections tell the story accurately. For them the question is starter or reliever, not can he stick in the majors. Fans are optimistic because they rate players they know/like.
  20. Depends where a team is on the win curve. Doesn't make sense for teams rebuilding or teams staying pat, But is useful for contenders. A player's surplus value relative to his salary is only an unrealized gain until either the player is traded or the team wins.
  21. Norris and Sanchez aren't stretched out enough to pitch 200 innings anyway. It will have to be a combination of the 3 unless AA brings somebody in.
  22. I feel like scouts should be able to determine if he's ready, Being young and inexperienced makes it incredibly unlikely to succeed in the majors, but it's not unheard of and the bar is lowered by just being a reliever. A 97 mph fastball and a plus offspeed pitch will get it done in the bullpen. Whether this is the best use of his potential or value is more complicated.
  23. I would argue Drabek does suck and Hendriks and Barnes probably suck, but maybe not. Not guys you lose sleep over losing.
  24. I'd say they don't need depth so much as good players.
