  1. Not interested in Ross or Hill. I liked Aaron Hill but he is inconsistent year to year, aging, and is just not reliable.
  2. Would be a perfect fit for this team, then trade Dickey/Thole for a 2B or OF.
  3. Yes gotta give AA some credit here, he may not have built a playoff team yet but atleast he hasn't locked us into bad teams for years to come like the Phillies and he has rapidly rebuilt the farm even with the marlins/dickey trades. Whoever is the next GM if AA is fired is walking into a decent situation.
  4. Whoever voted for Rizzo needs to be exiled from baseball.
  5. Great trade for both teams, Pompey definitely surpassed Gose as the future CF for this team. Picked up a guy who should be on the fringe of AAA/MLB next year at a position of clear need for us.
  6. What are peoples thoughts on Carl Crawford? Seems like the obvious man out of that Dodgers OF. I think he would fit here in LF and batting 2nd but the money is an obvious issue. I was thinking something along the lines of Buehrle + Romero for Crawford but I still think LA would need to eat at least half the money difference. Crawford might be able to produce 4.5 war over 3 years at $60 mil... Buehrle (+Ricky) is a lock for about 3 war over 1 year at about $28 mil Yuck, nevermind, doubt LA would eat the $20mil needed to make this deal work. This deal would atleast address the OF while actually creating payroll space for this year.
  7. #1) 2b #2) Outfield #3) Bullpen We have plenty of bench pieces if a starting caliber OF and 2B are brought in.
  8. If Pompey plays his way onto the team in spring training then why not. He destroyed all levels of minors last year, so I don't see why we should send him back out of fear of not rushing him. This team can't afford to give any games away by going with a subpar CF.
  9. I can see Smoak working out here, he has power and he will take a walk, seems like an AL east type of hitter. EE to DH fulltime and some combo of Smoak/Valencia/Mayberry could work at 1b at replacement level with upside while also adding depth at other positions. Clearly this opens the door for a Lind trade, and the return for him could fill a roster hole elsewhere (i.e 2b/SS or even the bullpen). Overall the team could be improved pending the return on Lind.
  10. Bad day at work? You've spammed the message board with nothing but negative posts the last few hours.
  11. Melky is not that old compared to the other guys hitting the market. Cruz is 4 yrs older and likely will get a 3-4 year deal. Melky was durable this year with no nagging type injuries causing him to miss time, just a fluke broken finger that could happen to any player in any game. I think something like 4 yr 50-55 mil plus option on 5th that can become guaranteed if healthy and productive but becomes league min salary if he has another PED hit (similar to Lackey's deal) is likely fair in this market. I really liked Melky and think his consistent high average bat helps balance out the inconsistent power bats we have. Sure 3 year 30 would be great but lets get real.
  12. This is going to be a hard sell if they have another do nothing off season and even worse if they let Melky walk and do nothing.
  13. Neil Walker available? Though Lind is likely closer to Pedro Alvarez value.
  14. Yes you should be shot for taking prospect info from Buck and Tabby.
  15. Agreed on all points except the Yankees. They went into the seasons as an old team that had plenty of guys with injury history... and they not surprisingly struggled with injuries. They took on that increased risking knowingly.
  16. I don't think Lind has much value around the league. Snider would be a good fit in LF if Melky is not resigned.
  17. Lets trade Lind for Travis Snider
  18. Stephen Drew will likely be looking for a 1 year deal to rebuild his value. Could be an affordable veteran to add into the SS/2B mix. Drew/Goins at 2b could work, or could shift Reyes to 2b with Drew at SS.
  19. Prado while having a bad year is still better than the options at 2b we have. He might end up producing more war in his 100 or so "bad" games for Arizona than our Kawa/Tolly/Goins combo will for the year. Though to be honest I've been saying for a long time now Reyes should be at 2b and we should be looking for a SS.
  20. I don't have any particular problems with the way Gibby manages and I have no faith in the organization being able to find someone better.
  21. This is silly, his defense is hardly an issue and a good team should have RH bench power bat as well as AAA depth anyway. Lind is not an overall great player but with his reasonable contract there are other issues to address. I'm not a huge fan either of a guy who can't seem to stay healthy as a DH but we are likely better off rolling the dice on a healthier year.
  22. I have it and like it but am rather frustrated with the XBOX 360 app. Its been buggy most of the year with frequent crashes, whereas on my PC its worked almost flawlessly all the time. Overall though its a great service, better than NHL game center which I found laggy at times last year regardless of what app I used.
  23. Is there anyone left in the minor leagues?
  24. meh like I said I think its borderline. Certainly not alot of value at $4 mil but on the other hand are the Jays going to be able to sign a better FA reliever for under $4 mil? Possibly but no guarantee. We have the rest of the year to evaluate.
  25. Of the options we have, the easy declines should be: Santos Morrow Even when healthy neither have been effective lately. Borderline Options: Happ Lind McGowan McGowan could be worth $4 million if he is a 8th inning type guy, which he could be depending how the season plays out. Lind's optioned is likely picked up because he's produced when healthy. Personally though I am frustrated with a DH who can't stay healthy and would love to see him replaced but likely not happening. Happ we should let go because we need room for young SP (Sanchez/Norris) and/or FA upgrade. I don't see either Dickey or MB being moved so the easiest move is to let Happ walk even though the better option is to keep Happ and trade one of them.
