  1. That will always be true, but that still doesn't dismiss the fact that Atkins isn't good either.
  2. I think you guys are forgetting this is for friggin Chris Martin lol who is 33 years old. It really does prove just how bad Atkins is though if guys like Chris Martin are getting the Braves #5 prospect.
  3. uh Kay is 24, Allard is 21. Usually if you haven't broken into the majors by 24-25, you get shot down on the totem pole. I think the fact Allard is 3 years younger and still can develop would make him far more valuable.
  4. Usually the people who call other people racists are the real racists themselves. Does anyone remember another BJ who was traded who threw a tantrum before they left? I honestly can't recall anyone recently.
  5. Well I don't think anyone actually thinks Atkins is a good G.M, so would they expect anything different in this trade?
  6. It seems like the Twins would be a stingy team giving away prospects. We need to find a win now team willing to spend!
  7. You basically just cursed Stroman into getting injured now !!! Atkins has proven that his waiting for the right time to trade is never the right time to trade. If this team had the Rays management, at least half of the mistakes like with JD would have been fixed and we'd be way further in the rebuild with a couple of extra pieces. Given the market size and potential of TO, they should have more than just a very average G.M.
  8. He's not fat, he's chunky and he has his dad's body type. Although, Vladdy Sr. even with his monster thighs was never this big.
  9. Being in Montreal, I love this idea. Tampa has an amazing front office. Wow, if they had a 130m payroll, they would be cleaning up.
  10. When you are rebuilding, guys like EE are not the ones you target. After a year like this, he's going to want to maximize his salary anyways. Doesn't make sense to spend 15m+ on a DH like EE.
  11. I think it's a good idea with his body type. It's not like he's ripping apart the league anyways.
  12. Is that the only stat they use for ROY? I still show him as 0.8 fwar vs 0.2 for vladdy so that's why I am asking.
  13. So he turned down a 1 yr 17.9m deal, to sign a 3 year/43m deal but really 3/37 since it is prorated. So he's getting basically 2/17m deal for the next 2 years after. Looks like it wasn't worth holding out and being greedy now was it? Remember, he was 'supposedly' asking for 5/100 at the beginning of the offseason. Reminds me of the JB situation where that high asking price backfired.
  14. This is the round we take Jones!
  15. Yep Red Sox drafted some quality guys with big upside.
  16. Well at least Shatkins drafted their utility player of the future
  17. For sure, they would just need to take payroll to 220-240m next year to make that happen, pretty simple.
  18. Anyone else worried with only 2 plus pitches he's most likely ending up as a reliever? I mean, he doesn't even have a plus changeup.
  19. so we drafted a 300lb pitcher? that can't turn out well
  20. I know a lot of people here were projecting Vlad to put up 5 WAR this year even missing the first month, is he still on track for that?
  21. Liberals just announced it's because of climate change and they will now start taxing HRs
  22. Also, they need to see just how good they end up being. Jansen is still worth negative WAR this year and Vladdy is still getting adjusted and isn't putting up huge numbers like some other rookies so far this year. You never know how players perform in the majors regardless of how good they are in the minors. If the young guys don't end up being actually good, I think management might hold off on big spending and will keep trying to cycle in young guys until some hopefully break out. It might not even be the prospects getting all the attention, could be others.
  23. 2021 is still going to be a stretch for this team to be competitive. Not competitive like a bit over .500, but in terms of fighting for the playoffs. There's not enough high upside talent right now. Shatkins will still need to acquire 2+ studs on top of what we have in our system now, so there is a nice core of bats/pitchers near the same age. Plus you know it will take 1-2 years of adding free agents to compliment that, and I doubt they will go big this off season. Realistically this team is looking at 2022+ , and that's if a lot of our prospects develop as we think (ie Jansen etc..).
  24. I thought Jansen was going to progress this year quite a bit, but he's negative war so far.
