  1. I thought we use runs scored, and they were 17th.
  2. Which team would that be?
  3. It's Gore or nothing! Wait it out.
  4. Crazy that our ace can't even fetch a team's top 5 prospect, hopefully the rumor is off. Atkins better just hold onto Stroman and hopefully a good start nets more than Allen/Baez. Rather quality over quantity.
  5. Respectable like you mean closer to .500? Why would ownership fire him when they are setting budgets and probably allowing a rebuild that they know will take several years? I don't necessarily think Shapiro will build a powerhouse, but the Blue Jays should start doing a bit better when they start going after real FAs and some of the younger guys develop (or if they develop). A powerhouse with the Yanks on the rise and Red Sox in the middle of their prime is probably not realistic, or maybe in 5+ years. The Yankees can go and just sign their own Vlad if they wanted, this team will need another 2-3 Vlads minimum.
  6. Guess which BJ starter had better numbers than him last year?
  7. You are likely looking at an organization's top 2 prospect which I don't think Sanchez or Stroman will yield. A potential #2 starter is higher than what either Stro/Sanchez are currently, so I don't see another team giving up that potential. I think Shatkins has to gamble here for a good start with either so I 100% agree with you, we can't trade them now. I know holding onto JD was a gamble that didn't work, but neither are a FA at the end of the year and I think there's a higher likelihood Stroman improves, I mean, compared to last year he has to!
  8. Exactly, small stadium, very small chance of getting a good TV contract (relative to other MLB teams). Plus, I'm not sure all the asylum seekers and refugees are into ball. We'd also have very little chance of capturing market share outside of QC, and the ownership group looks to be projecting things on the cheap including a 75m payroll. It's doomed to fail right from the start, but they still want to bring a team so worse case they can always relocate in 15 years and make a nice profit when it fails again here.
  9. I know someone working on the project and they project a 32k stadium (which it really needs to be about 35-38k), a 500m stadium (lol, it will cost upwards of 800m min) and a 75m payroll (0 chance they will compete with that). It's a recipe for a disaster. We've gone through this before, you put a cheap product on the field and the fans won't show up, and that will happen with their projections. Add in the fact it's a conglomerate ownership group and you know things will be cheaply done and run. The team would have a 2-3 year window of excitement being a new team then quickly fade.
  10. That's a good point. Or he could have made it, built up some value, then trade him and eat 2/3 of his salary instead of close to what will be most likely the full amount.
  11. Just seems like the Yankees always win. They do that and then possibly sign Machado? That would be a pretty solid team top to bottom.
  12. He's not a bust yet, but he was borderline. He's definitely over hyped. He was ranked like a top 20 prospect the last couple of years and I don't think he'll have the hitting to be a mlber.
  13. Just a question, why would the Blue Jays take on that much more salary to still not compete? Like I can see if they were tinkering the lineup and in win now mode, but to get an expensive player to still not make the playoffs doesn't make sense given the youth movement going on now.
  14. What are you disappointed about exactly? This club has too many holes to be competitive this year or next. Attendance was down like 30% last year. There's no point to over spending this year on free agents. I'd wait to see how the prospects start panning out and then see where the holes are before just adding over priced players right now.
  15. At least they can save a bit of money losing with a no name manager. No point of spending too much when your team is going to suck either way.
  16. Ya because they gave up so much lol
  17. Sorry, I just thought I read that you think even if the Jays eat 3/4 of RM's salary, that they would get a good prospect back lol. By good prospect you mean most likely someone ranked in their farm in the 20-30 range right?
  18. I think some people wanted Bruce this past offseason also
  19. I'm really not at all upset that we got an older minor leaguer who is rehabbing from TJ and not a club's top 10 prospect, given this was done on waivers. I'm more upset Shatkins gambled last year by holding onto him thinking the Jays actually had a chance this year. JD would have gotten a top 50 or top 75 prospect in the offseason, that could be a potential high upside guy who would develop with Vlad JR. Complete failure that he turned JD into what we got now, we're just happy because JD was on the DL the whole year and we got something, when he should have been gone in the offseason.
  20. So was he ranked higher than #17 in their org? #17 and 27 years old basically means he wasn't going to ever get a shot at the bigs unless he was traded to a team that has many openings and sucks.
  21. He'll be 27 in a month, how has he performed at the MLB level since he has all these great 'peripherals' ?
  22. A Ben Zobrist type, without the zobrist numbers, I hear ya.
  23. I think there are way too many holes to fill this off season. The Blue Jays aren't the only team who will be bringing up a prospect or two next year, fyi. Right now, they are 19 games back of the WC, lol. Weren't the jays competing last year for the WC, or was it this year too? You can say the Jays are competing with like half the AL for a WC (twins/mariners/A's/angels/rays/yankees). Plus Rangers/White Sox should be better next year too. But the Yanks should have 1 spot locked in next year again, so, next year = no bueno.
  24. Great trade by management, just like the Osuna one. We acquired 'depth'. I like it.
  25. andddddddddd he's released lol
