  1. What I can't figure out is how probably 90% of us on these boards most likely would have went with Latos over Dickey and most likely every GM in MLB, yet, AA decided he wanted a 1 pitch 37 year old instead. He literally has negative trade value now, meaning the blue jays would have to eat salary to even trade him. How pathetic is that? Look at the window again, the BJs still are barely a .500 team if even, and Dickey will have expired with this team most likely not even having come remotely close to making the playoffs. Great strategy!! lol
  2. I think we can all agree, had AA traded those prospects for almost ANY other decent pitcher that was under 30 years old, that he would have gotten a better deal.
  3. If Dickey was a free agent signing, it wouldn't sting so bad that he's done. But now that trade could/should be the end of AA.
  4. So, if a player goes down for the year like JJ might, does insurance pay back the team like 80% or more or the team is on the hook for the full contract?
  5. That could be the biggest power hitting infield ever.
  6. If that ball bounces to the left it's a double, damn it
  7. Bautista can only hit when he does his backstretch in the box
  8. I don't know. I think having a good eye is not necessarily something he will for sure improve on. There are a ton of major league players with that same issue. That being said, I don't think he will ever hit for a high average. He'll never live up to the hype we had for him.
  9. At least the Jays will have some good trade chips come the deadline. Who was it that AA was going to trade Santos for in the offseason?
  10. I thought Melky was going to throw the ball to the fans when he caught it and turned around. lol
  11. Well, I think most forum members believe we're somewhere around the 80 win mark. Most over/unders are around 78.5-80 I believe.
  12. We really shouldn't get overly excited about possibly beating the astros. I don't even think their payroll is 50m lol
  13. I think the problem is, AA wanted Happ as a cheap #5 guy. Looking at his career numbers, they aren't awful. He's still a 40-42 lifetime pitcher, with a 4.25 era. The problem is, he hasn't pitched all that well with us. I also don't think he fits in on this club if we were really trying to be competitive. Maybe AA planned on trading young arms for a 2b? Who knows.
  14. Yep, steroids take a huge toll on your heart.
  15. When Reyes comes back, chances are he will see more DL time again. His lower body is a bit fragile.
  16. Several would still have held high trade value. D'arnaud/Synder for starters. Plus, the payroll flexibility would still be there. No matter what, they still would have been way better off anyway you slice it. You say they have trouble signing FAs, but you need to have the payroll to even get to that point. Plus, I hardly think a player will turn down money, Drew is still available for instance. Now, I don't see any point to signing him at this point, I don't consider him a long term option and I think this team needs 2 ace SPs ahead of Drew right now but there appears to be financial constraints.
  17. Colby has pop. If he hits like he did in 2012, swinging at curves/sinkers out of the plate, then he's useless too. But he put up good numbers last year, so he's pencilled in as the CF. I would be hesitant signing him long term, which is the only good thing the jays did. Not signing him in the offseason to an extension was the right move considering we don't know which Rasmus will get in 2014. Worse case it costs us a couple of m more if he does duplicate his stats, but could save a lot more if he doesn't.
  18. The only useful thing Gose can do is run and catch balls, is that worth him taking a spot? He can't hit. Would you like a lineup with Goins/Gose in it, those are for sure 2 guaranteed outs.
  19. Lawrie better steal now for not advancing the runner.
  20. Don't even put baseball in the same league as soccer. All those skinny euro players go down and grab their leg as if someone sawed it off every 5 minutes.
  21. For what he's being paid, he should at least pitch decent every other game.
