  1. of which half were arguing about xfip and how some people weren't even watching the game but just analyzing stats as if they were
  2. It's not as if that suddenly means the Blue Jays will be successful on the field. There's still other management and owner issues still present. Not to mention, the new GM will have a full plate, with veterans near the end of their contracts, not much top end hitting in the minors, and owners who aren't willing to add to payroll.
  3. Well, in their defense, they probably don't play sports and don't understand sports consist of more than 1 stat. Otherwise, there would be no need for scouts or anyone to even watch the game.
  4. in all fairness, good players cost money, and the blue jays don't have that right now
  5. this team will definitely hit the postseason with Ryan Goins in the lineup
  6. lol no, but he was amazing, him and Brad Fullmer. My first name is Brad as well.
  7. No clue, I was stressing the fact we could beat them. One of the top 2 hitters on this team is out.
  8. With EE/Lind/Lawrie, the Jays are better ..IF they come back
  9. Remember when some 'posters' here wanted Hammel. Check out his stats with Oakland since the trade.
  10. hahahah that's right on...were the jays in on Abreu too?
  11. Not really, you have to factor in team control and salary for the full picture.
  12. They traded their #2 prospect. I don't think they had such a strong farm to begin with though. Still a good return for the Red Sox.
  13. It doesn't matter on who they focus, they won't make the post season. The Yanks already caught up, and the Rays are not far behind. They will send their only top prospects for a 1-2 year rental, won't make the playoffs, and then be in a worse spot after just so AA can try to save face and possibly not get fired.
  14. he's one lucky SOB, man that girl is smoking
  15. The yankees really don't care, they signed Solarte as a FA, and have quite a lot of infielders they signed recently. Solarte can be replaced, but Headley I'm sure they want for a push for this year. I think they see the freefall the BJs are in, and still think they can hit the playoffs.
  16. Ya Cliff Lee is only 35, so this fits with AA's plan of targeting old vets for young prospects. Lee basically has 2 more years following this one under team control. His 2016 - $27.5 million club options ($12.5 million buyout) - 2016 club option guaranteed if he has 200 IP in 2015 or 400 IP in 2014-15 and is not on DL after 2015 with left elbow or left shoulder injury. Now, WTF did they not bid on Darvish if they are prepared to pay those kinds of numbers on a 35+ year old pitcher. Man, if this club only had a plan.
  17. Bang on, wtf was that malakas so fixed on a late 30s knuckleballer? At the time, TDA and Synd were highly regarded prospects. The shape of this team could have been entirely different had AA targeted a young #1 or #2 stud.
  18. Several top 20 prospects, along with always signing the top IFAs and so glad we outbid everyone on Puig/Abreu/Tanaka/Davish. Since we're playing the sarcasm game!
  19. 0 chance any of that happens. The thing with Toronto teams, they aren't good at rebuilding, just take a look at the leafs. There's constant pressure to win, so there's never the ability to do the necessary moves to win. Those moves are what it would take for this team to be competitive for years and actually have a legit chance of building a solid base of young guys with lower priced contracts, but, like I said, it ain't happening unfortunately.
  20. lol was just watching a Seinfeld episode before. The Big O is the epitome of the state of affairs in Quebec. Overpriced from the beginning, falling apart, full of corruption (look at all the cost overuns on every project), horrible location, etc.. etc..I also think a new stadium would be full of problems, it's just because nothing is ever done right in this province. 5% goes to the mafia, 5% goes to the corrupt politicians, 10% extra goes to the corrupt companies, so it would cost us quite a bit more to build it here. As much as I'd love a team, I don't know if the market could support it long term to compete with other teams. We'd most likely have a 75m payroll and that would lead to lower attendance then in 10 years the threat of the team leaving too if we didn't win and attendance was bad in a newly shittly built stadium (everything in quebec is built half ass).
  21. I can't believe he's already 27, I think I am getting old too fast. I remember when he was a top prospect, feels like yesterday.
  22. It's because they have a great GM and they are a very well run team on the field. They also lock up young players at the right time and for the right price. Look what they just did with Archer. Imagine if they had a 130m payroll? They know how to retool fast, and sell their players at the right time, most of the time not by choice. However, they make smart and sensible trades allowing them to accumulate great prospects/young players. Unfortunately, they most likely will never have the Yanks/Sox/BJ payroll to make even more moves, so they are handicapped in that respect. Now, if the Jays/Rays could just swap their entire front offices, the Jays might actually have a chance at winning something.
  23. My wife weighs more than his BA right now..Although she just gave birth a couple of weeks ago
  24. In order to take that chance for next year, we'd have to QO him, which could mean ~14m in salary, which given his current numbers are definitely not worth it. If the Jays had a 180m payroll they could afford risky moves like this, but people have to understand that risking X dollars on Headley means less money for other improvements. Ie. getting a stud starter.
