  1. I wanted him last off season. Given what we spent on others that didn't/haven't worked out 4/80 didn't seemed excessive. His BB rate and power from the left side would be very impactful in our line up. His D and K rate & average kept his WAR down.
  2. Was just about to type "shell of Thor" looks bad. Get the pen up. Then Alvarez chased some poo and Pena thrown out trying to steal. Escaped with 1 run when they had him on the ropes.
  3. Watched that game last night. Amazing a guy sitting 93 with basically 2 pitches could shut down that offense for 6. Just great stuff/location and invisiball fastball. Talk about a money start. That was basically Game 7 for the Stros last night. How about Bregman taking 101 away to RF with 2 strikes for the biggest hit of the game? The unpredictability of baseball is its best feature. Love it.
  4. Good for Vlad. Thought he was pretty good but a little surprised. I have no idea how they pick these. I pay little attention after watching some of the nominees and winners over the years. I think analytics have really devalued them.
  5. Fair on pen. Alvarado is a gas can when wild. Got sent down for it didn’t he? But that slider and FB from the left side is pretty elite when he is finding the zone. He and Seranthony are throwing well now. Robertson is over rated.
  6. No. I watched a little bewildered. That’s true. Fair point.
  7. Hmm. Interesting. SP agreed. How do you rate the pens comparatively? Alvarado (this version - 14/9 K%) and Dominguez along with Robertson is a better high leverage trio than we have - lets say thats Romano, Yimi and Bass? Depth wise '22 Hand is not really in the PHI circle of trust, but his FIP is the same as Mayza this season, and a better fWAR. Yet, Schneider pulls Gausman to go to Mayza turning Santanna around. I can't see Thompson doing the same with Hand in similar spot.
  8. Wheeler just doesn't have his V or stuff going tonight. He was a lot sharper last couple of series.
  9. That was the catch(s) we didn't make. 65% probability. Pop - execution - luck and pen punches the ticket to a World Series win. Stros very far from done though. Hell of game.
  10. I wish this ongoing Yankee head explosion & self flagellation I'm listening to could just go on forever. Soothing.
  11. Season on the line. Harper hot. Hader hot. It's a no brainer. It's akin to Showalter leaving Britton in the pen and Edwin walking off Jiminez.
  12. It's ripe for second guessing but with Harper locked in my son and I were yelling to go to Hader there. Game and season was on the line right then and there. Can Hader give you 6 outs? Or at least that one and 2-3 more? Try it. As it turns out Harper mashed a pretty good pitch. Just not up or down enough a tad but it was 99 outer half! But Hader's filth lately vs hot LHH I like my chances in that spot.
  13. That swing. Taking 99 outer half away like that staying on it. He is locked in. I remember thinking that was a horrible contract when he signed it for the PHI. Not so sure about that since then. Lol. Really is a special talent.
  14. That was awesome. 62 in the regular season and shite in the playoffs. It can happen. Pay a 30 year old $300M + please...someone else. I can imagine Yanks faithful are seething at JD and others. That shovel to SS by Torres he botched on the DP attempt was crucial. Man that was good for my soul and I don't even like HOU much.
  15. Loaisiga with a 100 mph sinker to Tucker. Just so nasty. The Nicaraguan is good. Astros thankfully are still going to win this series.
  16. Got to love Rizzo approach at the plate. Always seems to have a plan. Even if it doesn't work. The other night moving way up in the box against breaking ball. Tonight slapping balls away to left to beat the shift for dem 2 out ribees.
  17. Just caught up on game today on PVR. Much joy. An E in the OF by the Yanks and then Cole gives up a 2 out el cheapo Yankee Stadium RF HR special.
  18. For sure. 2 strikes. Just trying to get the ball in play. Unreal. 2 runs came in. Did they say Segura had not whiffed on a breaking ball all year? How is that possible?
  19. Some sick pen arms in this series. Pens-Can't live with em. Can't live without em. Such volatile performance. We don't even blink anymore at 100.
  20. Welcome back Montas. I'm enjoying this game. I must say.
  21. Very good question. Flags fly forever. Depends a lot on their results. It's not a small market. He has Soto for 3 post seasons. Hader for another. If he is lucky Tatis comes back and is Tatis next year. He has made some big bets. OTOH we traded a lot of our top prospects too, at the time, for Berrios and 22-23 of Chappy. Not sure what our next "wave" from the farm is going to be. Ricky, we all hope? One of our C will likely be dealt so we will get a full look at Moreno. Juxtapose all this against a C Jays deadline this year. Which arguably ended up hurting us this season and in this post season. Most times half measures get the results one should expect. You can make a case that with a better pen and an impact LHH in 22, we aren't even in a wildcard, because we win the division. It will be an interesting off season.
  22. SDP earned it. Put balls in play. Timely hits from both sides of the plate, and a wipe out pen locked it down. Congrats to the giant killers. Even without Tatis Jr, they are moving on. This kind of thing happens in hockey quite a bit too. Even if best of 7's. Lots of teams have won the "Presidents" trophy and had big regular season win totals only to get punked in the playoffs. That was always the joke about Washington Capitals and Ovechkin, until they won. Lots of other examples.
  23. All out of concern for Ms after the Game 2 horseshoe they shoved up our ars. Craving revenge. Also, f*** the Yanks.
  24. Gonzo with another clutch knock to walk off the Yankees! So awesome.
  25. My son just showed me a meme of tonight's game with King Felix warming up on the pen for Seattle in the 18th lol. Out of arms. Bring back the oldies. What a game!
