  1. Finally caught a Sarris breakdown FWIW on Swanson and the Nimmo. His has Swanson rated better than Montero who just got 3/30, and worth 3/35 in todays market (not that he would be eligible now). He likes Nimmo, even at 6/130 which is like $7mm/win based on projections. I was surprised. Loves his OBP and lack of chase. Sees him as major upgrade over Teo. General take was Teo move was pretty clever for money and a number of reasons.
  2. People like Swanson this much eh? Looks like he has 1 dominant season and an avg FB V wise. 93.7 Is his stuff that good? I've barely seen him pitch. Looking forward to hearing a Sarris breakdown on this deal.
  3. Hmm. 23 is a win now season. Teo could pretty easily be a 4+ WAR player again. Back to back to back 130 wRC+ seasons. He only has a year left but moving him for control to allegedly build a sustainably competitive team is relative to the value of the control and the lotto ticket coming back. Have to look at the whole body of work for the off season to come to properly view this deal. At this point underwhelming to me, but some good takes with opposing views ITT. Really like the guy. But part of a shake up maybe? If we hold that game 2 lead vs SEA and win Game 3 his 2 bombs become a piece of Jays lore. Sad to see him go but he wasn’t likely to extend regardless.
  4. Agreed. Also...they scored 1 run. Hard to win with 1 run. Tip your cap to HOU starter and pen.
  5. He will but wont his argument be: - Wheeler was suffering from something and nobody really knew what Wheeler would show up and for how long. His last start before this his V was down 3-4 MPH. Although Thompson didnt say that. He just said he liked the match up better with 2 on. - Alvarado has been reliable lately and 14k/9. Even in Gm 5 Bregman took 101 away to RF. Wasn't a really bad pitch. A base was open if he was wild. Without Alvarado they would not be in Gm 6 of a WS. - Alvarez less power and higher avg vs LHP. He did square up 99. It was center cut though. Still...99 with a round ball and bat aint easy. - Do or die game and moment for PHI. No tomorrow. Their offense was struggling. He is going to get raked and my kid was yelling "Alvarez crushes lefties, don't do it". But you can see Thompson's thinking. At the end of the day they scored 1 run and HOU shut them down hard. That has more to do with why they lost. Schwarber weirdly trying to bunt his way on says it all. Its more bizarre than Grisham trying it. In the entire post season HOU's pen gave up 5 runs in 54 IP. is a local Philly take on it all FWIW
  6. That's not really what he said or did. He said if he got busted inside too far he would take the base. If Wheeler stayed away or inner half he would have hit. Wheeler had bat parts flying all over the field. Maldonado saw that and made a smart adjustment.
  7. She can be annoying but have to tip your cap to her ruthlessness in getting the interview. She is a beast at that. (Also that KU Family Guy clip lol).
  8. I get it but thats the box. Nothing in the rules says you have to move or do any gyrations to avoid pitches coming too far inside. Moving up on the plate is a way to counter a lot of the advantages arms have in todays game.
  9. Really? I loved it. Wheeler was busting them hard inside and if he kept coming so far in, he was going to get on base. He knows he can't hit. Rings at stake.
  10. Lots of elements of their play factored but the dominance of the pen, when PHI's pen faltered a bit the last couple of the games, helped turn the Series.
  11. For all the top teams that got punted early in the post season, the Best team got it done. Legit win. Kind of quiets the 2017 stuff. Congrats to the Stros.
  12. Lol. My thoughts exactly. Agreed!!!! (That was a brain cramp)
  13. 6 outs for PHI. Tough one. Stros pen has given up 5 runs in over 50 IP in the post season.
  14. He did have to come in with the bases loaded time before this one. Aside from plunking the first hitter that was a tough assignment he did ok in. Bregman took 101 away to RF with 2 strikes. Tip your cap.
  15. 99 turned around crushed. Stros so many weapons. Just waiting for the big guy to wake up and he did. Unreal. Alvarez doesn't drop off against LHP.
  16. Plesac called that perfectly on the broadcast. If you feel the need to go to the fastball with 2 strikes against Schwarber - don't miss in. Then boom. 1-0.
  17. For sure. Depends a lot on if wheeler is the usual or the guy from the last start who didn't have his V and stuff.
  18. Lol. So true. I hate the ever shifting eye rolling hindsight narratives to fill air time.
  19. Yikes. I didn't know Maldonado was. Have they no shame? His wRC+ is 70.
  20. 2 huge plays on D preserve the W for the Stros. What a game.
  21. Not sure with RISP 2 out Vasquez doesn't PH for Maldonado here.
  22. So solid. Makes it harder to use the "we're a young team still learning" tag line for the Jays. Peña looks like he is playing just any game out there squaring up balls and playing great D.
  23. 4 BBs and a bomb in 2 1/3. Dusty needs to get the hook out with Verlander.
