    I know throwing the slider 60-70% of the time was working well for awhile but f*** I love to see Romano bringing the heat and then dropping it on them!

    Sure. Ross says a lot of purified and sanitized things. At the end of the day it's a bet with the best risk assessment available. Just always question of how big a bet this org or others want to make. They have made a few big ones. If his ask is reasonable I'd love to see him stay a long time.

    In principle sure. But it also matters if the player is actually performing and getting better. It also matters that we would be buying out 2 arb years, at a premium eliminating risk for the player...injury and/or poor performance.

    Lots of people make stupid offers in this game that get signed/turned down, and lots of people turn down offers they should accept. What was then is not necessarily now.

    Where does the "mutual discount" thing come from for Bo and Vlad? Vlad at 8/170 ish makes sense. Riley terms might even make sense. Bo and Semien have been worth equal WAR in '22 with Marcus at 2B and a down year offensively. Bo will be 25 at the start of next season, and I think you have to discount any deal for Bo to reflect he just may not be a viable long term SS option.

    Soto's career wRC+ is 155 has been worth 23 WAR. Its 147 this yr. Soto already has a ring and he can at least play the OF(sort of). Has a better body type. Better GB % and BB rate. The "fallacy" of body type? For real? Vlad's had 1 great yr. One good (132 wRC+) and two below 110 wRC+. You are way over rating his D at 1B. Its been fine. Not great. Are you really arguing WAR, as an indicator of overall value, isn't a major factor in determining long term contract term and AAV? Also, we know what Soto has asked for not what he is going to get. Look at actual comparables in ATL and elsewhere. Tatis illustrates some of the risk in signing early massive long term deals.

    Ya, its crazy. he had 7 no hitters. He walked 4-5/9 his whole career so no perfect games lol very cool that in his 5th no hitter, still more than anyone else, Terry Puhl from SASK made a huge tough OF catch to preserve it. Very few Canadians back then in MLB...maybe just him at that time.

    I'm ok that Tapia was pissed he got PH for by Danny last night against the LHP, but Jansen rocking a 135 wRC+ There is no question that was the right call. Tapia has had too many PAs as it is for a negative WAR player with an 88 wRC+.

    He has good life and giddyup on the fastball. Really love to see that. He has a good slider but a lot of the time its up which is bad when he throws it so much. I thought Mayza was fine too. Kind of unlucky on those hits. Rozarena his 95 down 4-6 inches below the zone sinking. Not much he could do about that.

    New documentary called "Facing Nolan" on Netflex. I liked it. Talk to him, his wife and a lot of former great players about him. Lots of good footage. Quite a story. 383Ks in one season!! and over 300 5 times. Just incredible. Never won a Cy Young. They estimate he hit 107-108. 100 occasionally I can buy. I find 107 really hard to believe given how much overall V has gone up modern day.

    Perusing the 2022 WAR Leaderboards and thinking about value contribution/future contracts for this team. - Semien at 2B has been worth the same WAR as a white hot Bo playing SS - Elvis Andrus is worth more WAR than Vladdy's 3.1 (93rd) Goldy and Freeman have 7 each. I think this ownership is going to more cautious given the Berrios/Kooch/Ryu/Roark value/$ so far. Gausman and Springer so far you could argue have been very good value, but the back end could be rough.

    At this point I would want him to pay us to pitch for the Jays another year.

    Is that a new precedent? I love that for these long term arms deals. Just a bit of nice downside risk protection.
