  1. Just need Manoah to settle in and grind out some good ABs. All we can do. Castillo is dealing so far. 24 outs left for us.
  2. 0-2 hitting JROD changed it all. Center cut fastballs often get bashed.
  3. My point is some arms develop later, when they have talent. Sometimes it injuries. Sometimes its stuff/command. Sometimes it both. Gausman had some low inning seasons and then mastered the split later. Carpenter just got healthier and much better with the CB and off speed stuff. Guys like Rich Hill have done similar. Sometimes they just never get healthy and/or better and flame out. I'd move Nate for real value but don't want to give up on him.
  4. And...as a result we dealt him and he became what? Nate is injury prone and has pitched 33 IP for us. They are twins. I was being facetious. I know he has be useless but he is hard to give up on when we need pitching depth. Some arms figure it out a bit later post prospect hype. Gausman was one who did as well.
  5. No way. Nate's the next Jays Chris Carpenter if we deal him. Ye of little faith! I can't f***ing wait until tomorrow. Dying here!
  6. In MTL for some meetings today. Back to Calgary tomorrow. Might have to turn right back around and hit these games too. I went to the 1st 2 games in TOR in '15 after the drought since '93. Sat in depressed shock as we got beat in them both and Cecil got hurt. Odor bombs. Jose and Andrus saved us in Gm 5 I wasn't at. This is such a short series. Literally anything can happen results wise no matter how well you draw it up. Got to drink it all in.
  7. Next couple will be interesting. Some of our guys are rolling and some scuffling. A couple reps at the plate won't hurt. Espy and LGJ, if they can, need reps and some at bats. Whoever really needs and wants a day off take it. Nice job. Thought we could win the Division but top wildcard seed at home is the next best thing. Got to hand it to the boys. They ground this out.
  8. Chappy and Kirk in funks. Nice to see him pick up a cheapy RBI. A 2 strike slap.
  9. 3 run cushion too little for my liking. PHI flashbacks.
  10. For sure. And they loaded up the lefties against him. Breaking ball was good. Encouraging.
  11. Berrios clubbing by LHH continues. Thanks Teo. One more.
  12. Cmon Berrios. You just got a 3-0 lead. Walking Mullins to put tying run at plate no bueno.
  13. Not likely but every team needs a Rosario and or Soler Pat Borders style surprises to succeed in the playoffs. Maybe he will be one of those guys for us? He has useful tools. I loved the run he scored yesterday with the IF in after JBJ had gotten him to 3B with less than 2 outs.
  14. Friendly wager $25 on that? I don't think so. He has huge tools and huge risks, juxtaposed against being wealthy his whole life and being the center of baseball attention since he was hitting at like 12. I think this ownership won't overpay after the Springer/Berrios/Kootch/Roark/Ryu/Gausman deals and Vlad and his agent know someone will. OTOH he is well off so maybe where he plays and with whom matters more to him than we know. In which case I'll owe you $25.
  15. Baseball is a grind eh. The good the bad and the ugly on the deadline deal has shifted hard in 3 weeks. Pop and Whitt have come on like a freight train. Mitch and Bass started hot and have fallen back a bit. Bass has given up something like 6 HRs now and he had only given up one to a RHH all year before coming here? He has still be useful and i like him as a weapon in the playoffs.
  16. Couldn't agree more. They put balls in play which forces a D to play well, and have a little pop. Good pitching and their closer is filth personified.
  17. It's the Vlad show. HOF slugging one of a kind dad. Invited to the Home Run Derby when it seemed bizarre. Admittedly he killed it, but lost. He smashes the ball hard. Unfortunately too much on the ground this year again, and for whatever reason has decided to become a guesser and swing at a lot of balls. That worries me as much as anything. He is worth a pretty big bet at his age with his tools but what that is going to be is fascinating. It should not start with a 3. Not even sure about a 2. But he grew up rich, famous and idolized, so he isn't hungry to sign and may just hunt an overpay from some team.
  18. Travis with a big hit for ATL. He and Thor (well sort of Thor) and AA roll on while RA dead and gone a long time already. I'm in heaven today. Watched Jays W, Rays lose, Seattle get busted, Brewers blow it (unfortunately) and tonight now the Mets owner's head may explode.
  19. Ray can really give up some long balls. I have more faith in Gausman. He hung some beauties today and the As didn't miss. 4 more outs and this is a perfect day.
  20. Pretty amazing. Best production at C we ever seen as Jays fans in their history. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy than Jano. He has battled injuries and poor offensive performance. I shared before, he volunteered to do a 2 day ball camp with my son's group in Jan of 2019. Nicest most easy going pro athlete I've ever met. Shared how much he picked up from Luke Maile. Without slagging Martin he was pretty clear who helped him the most. There was only 7 kids in the camp, so it was really interesting spending that much time with a guy chatting about catching some of the top guys on the planet. Lets hope he can keep it rolling. I'll never forget watching Borders win the MVP of the 92 World Series.
  21. Never have seen the sustained offensive production from the C position that we have had in '22 in the history of the Jays. Jano's incredible season has been under the radar.
  22. Yup. Tight one. Ramirez PH scared me at the end. Man, that guys sprays the ball around everywhere it's pitched. Phew!
  23. Watching 39 year old Jesse Chavez pitch for Atlanta in high leverage. About to beat the Mets. Can't believe he is still going K'ing more than 1 an IP.
  24. Vlad swings at 3 balls to K. Kirk takes 2 strikes on way to K. Some gift at bats. Hopefully Chappy can pick them up here.
