  1. Dam that was a smart play by Belt to bail us out. Nobody got to 1B.
  2. LGJ would be tied for our team lead in bombs this year with Vlad at 18. He is hot again so back up to 1.3 WAR to Varsho's 0.9 so no Aug WAR bet bonus for Hurl. Season bet might come down to the wire. Varsho has looked a little better lately.
  3. Honestly, I hope the team and Kirk, Manoah and Vlad all come to jesus this off season on a real conditioning and weight loss goal they attain.
  4. After watching Ramirez nail Anderson it makes me wish we could have lured him even more. The deal he signed with CLE is incredible team value.
  5. The Angels are a disaster. Unless they know something we don't and are going to resign Ohtani, which is possible not probable, and one of his conditions was they add, it makes zero sense at all adding and not unloading him. Look at the price for a semi good SP in Giolito rental. Imagine what the Angels could have gotten the other way for 2 months of Ohtani. All this narrative about "who wants to be the owner/GM who traded Ohtani?" is dumb IMO. We heard the same ******** about Soto last year. Nobody cares over time. Especially if you win. Id say the same about what we will face with Bo/Vlad maybe as early as the end of July next year. Its all about performance. BAL fans are over their franchise disdain now and are filling the park and leaning into hacking us in the Hangout. Which blows BTW.
  6. Missed the game today and just watched Jays in 30. LOLOLOLOLOL!! WTF Reese? I watched it 10 times. That was special moment of joy. Nice W!!
  7. Love to stay and debate this all day but my son is playing 15U AAA Tier 1 AB provincial championships today 2 games. He is hitting 4 and pitching. So I will be sitting in the OF stressing my ass off with my heart racing smoking cigars and praying the boys play well! Have a good one. This may be heresy but I almost feel sorry for Luis Severino. Such a talented guy with amazing stuff and IL issues getting historically lit up.
  8. I didn't know you were on the inside in the LA organization to know all these "actual facts". Thanks for sharing. I cant top that!
  9. Fair. He did fail some in TOR. Took a big swing in the Marlins deal that didnt work out. But then took big swings extending Jose and Edwin under market after 1 big season each, and trading Lawrie Graveman for JD. That was the nucleus of the offense that got them deep into two post seasons with no extra wild card. Norris and Boyd for Price almost got us into the WS. He swung big using all of his international money to sign Vlad. Another big risk. Not a fail. You can debate this all day long but he had some success and failure in TOR and he is nailing it in ATL mostly. He will have some misses there too. But he has big balls.
  10. This Board will always be the same. AA is the Great Satan to some that will never be forgiven for the Noah deal, and this FO is a precise machine. At this point after 15-16 & going all in to sign Vlad revitalizing a franchise that was in the doldrums since '93 - with what he has done to win and build a sustainable long term winner in ATL, he has run laps around this FO results wise.
  11. Varsho! Nice to see the boys hitting some bombs. So nice.
  12. Wow. Perfectly located K FB to Verdugo. Awesome.
  13. Alek doing ok but his starts make me think of that line in Jaws “I think we are going to need a bigger boat”. I think we are going to need more runs.
  14. That home run is why I love baseball. Nice job kid!!
  15. '23 is a world where: Brandon Belt 1.1 WAR wRC+ 124 Vlad Guerrero 0.3 WAR wRC+ 117
  16. I undervalued Rolen when he was here because his bat wasn't much above league avg and didn't really appreciate his D as much as I do now. I used to think Ricciardi got robbed and that he was shot when we got him. We live we learn...hopefully.
  17. A 3.5 WAR chicken breast who we are really going to miss badly in 2024. One of those players who will be most appreciated when they are gone.
  18. Unicorns my man Unicorns...for every 1 of them there are 100 or more Collabellos who just can't sustain.
  19. I listened to a great interview with Jose on his HR increase once. He said he perfected the big leg kick and early load. It allowed him to pull balls more and just increased how hard he could hit the ball. JD did virtually the same thing when he converted from C to 3B. He said learned how to keep his hands back despite that load so he could still be elite at pitch selection. Not easy to do. Edwin trained with Cano hard one off season and starting keeping both hand on the bat throughout his swing. And for whatever reason got a lot better at pitch selection and laying off the SL away. Combined with the move off 3B where he was able to focus on offence and amazingly hit over 400 MLB HRs. The under market extensions of Jose/Edwin were risks that turned out to be a couple of AA's best moves.
  20. Mount Crushmore. When Ross said he wanted to focus on “run prevention” I thought he was talking about our defense.
  21. Chappy takes 3 fastballs for the K. Awesome.
  22. Belt has been full value for what they are paying him. And then some.
  23. Count me in the camp who doesn't. I thought the "walks on water" praise of Pete Walker in the Ray year was ridiculous, similarly I don't feel he is responsible in any meaningful manner for Manoah's epic rise and fall. The coaches help or hurt on the edges. Its minor. Same for the hitting coaches. These are grown men professionals who have experience and stand to make a lot of money. A hitting coach normally only does so much and its marginal around the edges. Of course there are exceptions where a coach can help a player with a new approach like Jose adopting the leg kick and taking off but thats extremely rare and isolated.
  24. When the team traded McGriff and Fernandez after the 1990 season they were coming off 5.5 and 4.9 WAR seasons respectively. I know Carter was over rated and its not exactly analogous, but its interesting it was productive relatively young SS and 1B they moved. Crime Dog had just finished his 4th season. That and other factors really shook up the team direction. They got Tony back for 93. I think the FO tried in part to do some of the same this past off season moving LGJ and Teo. Going to be really interesting to see how it plays out.
