  1. The end of this season reminds me the movie Casino with DeNiro/Pesci where the Mafia Bosses are facing indictment because of a casino profit skimming ledger being kept and discovered by the FBI. Bodies started dropping all over. Coaches will go - JS may go (Manager lifeline #2) the roster will turn some more - but the Bosses won't. Team is a facing a ton of issues people have raised, and major decisions on Bo/Vlad as early as the '24 deadline. Its not a great look right now.
  2. Got to head out to dinner thing in Van. Need this win. Good luck Jays and gents!!!!
  3. Aerodynamics are better for the break on the splitter.
  4. My bud since Grade 8 from NS is taking his 8 year old son to his first ever live Jays games (3) tonight through Sat. He just texted me that that Vladdy bomb was worth it all flights hotels tickets $ and time. His kid is vibrating.
  5. GIANT SIGH OF RELIEF....Vlad does what Vlad can do. Beauty swing.
  6. I take your point. They hit the s*** out of the ball when it mattered most. That often happens. f***, Pat Borders was a WS MVP. Without those guys hot ATL just doesn't win. The 3 of them at times had been impactful their careers. Soler had 48 bombs and a 136 wRC+ in 2019. Pederson is a career 130 bat vs RHP. I listened to an interview where AA said he didn't want to go all in in '21 because of the players lost like Acuna Jr etc, but he would add pieces because he liked the run differential at the deadline. Plus what he learned in TOR at previous deadlines about the clubhouse impact of doing too little. He thought the ATL 2021 record was better than it showed at the deadline. Whatever...that was his view. Game is full of luck to be sure and it colors perceptions. Like why is Joe Carter on the Level of Excellence? lol It wasn't his career WAR in TOR. The answer to your question is yes, they probably would. Although the 3 you mentioned aren't analogous to the 3 players AA picked up. Soler ain't Ernie Clement. GM's need to be lucky to be good, and good to be lucky at the end of the day.
  7. - Going all in on international money to sign Vlad. - The trade for JD with the control he had. - Under market extensions for Edwin and Jose. - Aggressive at the deadline in TOR 15 and 16. These are the same sort of things he is doing/did in ATL. Is he more experienced now? Of course. Did he do some weak deals? Sure. He still is. But the moves he made to add Soler, Rosario and Pederson at the '21 deadline he said he learned from time in TOR when Bautista went public calling him out for not adding at the deadline in TOR pre 2015. Most thought ATL had no chance for the World Series in 2021 losing Acuna Jr, Ozuna and Soroka, and that they would sell. Did they get hot at the right time? Sure. But without those adds the championship doesn't happen.
  8. f***ity f*** f***. 2021 revisited. Lit a candle in my window hoping for a miracle here.
  9. Same. Rarely gets the credit he deserves IMO for revitalizing this franchise after 20 years in the wilderness. Doing it all over again in Atlanta with one ring in the bag already.
  10. I think games pretty much started around this time always and in the past when we were in the hunt we drew better and a lot more excitement. I just think this team has ground its base down with the perceptions of them. For a 90 ish Win team it sure seems to be a brutal grind of a season. We have done better than the SDP, Mets or Cards but it doesn't feel like it most days. My bud was at the gm last night. He has 4 season tickets in TD Clubhouse and he texted me it was "depressing". I had to dig these probabilities out to remind myself if we win only tonight we are still in ok shape for a PO spot: Blue Jays postseason probabilities based upon Texas series (other games simulated): TEX sweeps: 37% TEX wins 3-1: 59% Split: 80% TOR wins 3-1: 97% TOR sweeps: 99.3%
  11. Considering hotels downtown are starting at about $600 a night plus flights plus plus yep. Value isn’t there. Can’t expect to win every game but team is so dam listless. Being down 4-0 feels like 14-0.
  12. So glad I cancelled the idea of heading to Toronto for this series. Outscored 26-7 so far at home in a huge series. They need tomorrow night badly. It’s as close to a must win as it gets. It won’t get any easier after that schedule wise given how we have played the AL East.
  13. Rogers Center is a morgue right now.
  14. How is your 95 Win bet looking Mr. Gekko?
  15. Its about 1/10th of what it is in BOS and NY over their seasons so far. Lets hope we bounce into the playoffs - suddenly get hot and roll to a 3rd ring. Then you can make fun of any of us who panicked and we'll happily take it.
  16. This is a good summary. Been watching baseball since the 70s. We have seen a lot of team "windows" that give some perspective. This team is just not, yet anyway, the powerhouse with "waves" from the minors perennial sustainable powerhouse contender we hoped when Shatkins took over in 2016-17. This window is coming to a close and facing some huge decisions rapidly.
  17. 3 WAR SS in his prime this year. Thats not that elite. FA at 28 with high chase and low BB rates. Declining D and speed trend already. He has elite bat to ball skills but the aging curve makes that hard to sustain. Its all about the term, position and AAV. He will bet someone will pay him a boat load and test the market.
  18. Say it ain't so bud! We need to make it in and win. Seen a lot of team windows since I've been watching baseball and this one is facing some big decisions in this window sooner than a lot of people think.
  19. A bud of mine always says "It ain't the arrows - its the Indian" when he smashes a golf ball 200 yards into the trees off the tee. It ain't the coaches. They will probably get canned though.
  20. Fire Charlie. Fire JS. Fire the coaches. I don’t get it.
  21. Lol. Disagree completely.
  22. Not sure. Maybe. The 16 wildcard game win and beating Texas probably sanitized the memories. But I never felt like we were out of games like it’s felt this year too often.
