  1. Haven't been on much lately so I might have missed someone posting this but I thought it was a decent analysis by Davidi. Gives some insight into Melky's relative worth around the league. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/fangraphs-how-will-cabrera-do-in-free-agency/
  2. Reyes....jesus....unreal...not a tough chance. routine backhand.
  3. Hope to be wrong but I think we will all be shaking our noodles at the insanely expensive 3-4 year FA deals signed this coming off season. Some GM will take a shot on getting 2013 Rasmus and lock him up at a # Rogers can't justify. He sucked ass this year but he is still well above replacement level player imo.
  4. What a disappointment for Colby and us this yr has been. He was overall one of our best players in 2013 and I thought he would take off this season. There is no way to play him now because we don't want pay him and shouldn't. Better to go with the future. He has earned the pine frankly. He isn't adding consistent value over alternatives. His pappy ain't gonna be happy. This is how he rolls...right outa Toronto.
  5. Cecil and 2013 Delabar have closer stuff imo and Delabar is about as safe a bet as Morrow...which is not very. At least Delabar is cheaper.
  6. Since Rogers and mgm gave up on this team last off season and again at deadline I've lost some interest. Firm believer this year was our opportunity. Been an obsessed Jays fan since Day 1 and always will be. Had to say kudos for the team breaking the curses at NYY and Rays home turf this season. Another great start by Stro...couple of things to be positive about for 2015. While mathematically alive, there is no realistic probability at post season 2014 and hasn't been for some time.
  7. hmm...if only Francisco "Coco" Cordero could make a comeback we would be stabilized at closer.
  8. So f***ing true. Pathetic. We will never know what the changes would have brought to this team. Prado and Headley - 4 hits last nite and I think Headleys D on 3rd over Juan F looks pretty good to me. Lester cost them but BB is smart guy and all said and done I think that will work out well for their run.
  9. Cecil was on the 2012 off season winter tour with the Jays with Jose B and JPA in some place like Winnipeg in -30. When they announced him the crowd went quiet. He on camera said "they don't cheer because I sucked so bad last year"....it was pretty funny. At that time I never imagined the 95 MPH and wicked curve he now has even though he was a wipe out closer in college. He deserves a closer shot over Loup IMO who I also like. His stuff is nastier.
  10. Whats the point. Overall BOTH have had great seasons. Jose or Melky toss up on our most consistent hitters. Potato po"tat"o
  11. Unless we make some upgrades (which we wont) ....even with Melky back we stand to get crushed next yr in the retooled AL East. If Gose and Pillar both are everyday players (would be ok with Gose in CF if we have Melky back) and Reyes isn't at 2nd we are f***ed (yes...even with Sanchez, Stro and Norris).
  12. He would be Delabar 2014 - he has the stuff but cant stay healthy and struggles mightily with command. He couldn't find it as a SP so its a risk to assume he can in a set up role. 4mm ish to find out is probably worth it in this market.
  13. Id take those peaks and valleys over a long season any day...that's consistent positive contribution. QO or resign (if he agrees to DH some). I'm good with the Melkman.
  14. He costs 500k and can do what they asked of him against LHP. That was a pretty good pick up imo. It was never enough. Jays massacred this season with what we didn't do last off season and at the deadline. We needed to "tread water" until Lind and Edwin came back some said? What a joke...we had holes we didn't truly address in the rotation and pen and line up prior to them going down.
  15. no kidding. Those players are making a difference for NYY and will help them next month in their WC push. We rotate one replacement level player in for another from the waiver wire or the farm. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe
  16. Good exchange between SJF and Moogy. The whole "debate" is moot but a fun read. He has been mostly very impressive in a handful of MLB innings and we haven't seen a lot of the issues he had in the minors show up so far...time will tell the story that. Its a game of adjustments for young players. I'm still raging we didn't make the run this year with the division so beat up...I'm not counting on Stro and Sanchez to get us into the post season anytime soon with a retooled AL East to face in 2015.
  17. Prado, Headley and McCarthy haven't been world beaters for NYY but they are proven MLB talent over the replacement level scrubs we have rolled out when we got hit with injuries. Seems to be working for them considering their entire rotation was in triage. We need to address holes before Lind, Edwin and Lawrie went down. We will never know what those sort of upgrades might have done to end the spiral and loss of division lead/WC. Its just my opinion but I think some people are way ahead of themselves on Stro and Sanchez as impressive as they have been at times. Always focussed on next yr.
  18. Sanchez is a good prospect with + stuff and command issues that I think will show up in MLB the more he pitches in leveraged situations. Last night he got lucky on hangers to Reynolds after a BB and hit in inning. We don't know if he is a good pitcher yet but its been fun to watch.
  19. Ladies and Gentlemen...the ace of the Toronto Blue Jays RA Dickey....he sure knows how to ice a W
  20. Reyes...haven't we beaten this to death. 16 Es is not great but Im more concerned he can't make a tough chance...almost ever. His range is gone. His 0 has been really solid but not spectacular. If he wasn't making $22mm for the next 3 seasons we would all cut him more slack on D (although its painful to watch). We need to move his deal or get him to play 2nd next year.
  21. Well said...this off season and deadline in a year we had a real shot were complete f*** ups imo.
  22. There is no rush...if they bomb coming out of gate next year Edwin and/or Jose can be moved with buying team control for 1.33 years or more. That's still enticing for a good haul if they are having decent years. If a miracle happens and we are truly contending they swing away...for us.
  23. Edwin was never great on 3rd but he his OPS with Reds showed promise. His K rate was never like Juan's and he could hit RHP too. Juan cant either that well. Only real similarities are that they are from the Dominican and speak Spanish.
  24. This could be a generic comment about anyone on our rotation lately.
  25. Tough chance as it had no loft but he got a late break and a bad line....lots of CFs would make that catch imo. Gose likely.
