  1. lol. don't blame him for taking that first pitch breaking ball...probably fooled him. But that 2nd pitch swing was fugly. Need better ABs from him in that situation. Jose can usually be the most selective guy on the team.
  2. Great eye Goins....Travis has been far beyond expectation early
  3. My 6 year old just said it was a good idea to hit Longoria as he gets too many hits off of us. Kind of agree.
  4. Archer is nasty. Heat with command of wicked breaking stuff. Love how he pitches in. Makes me miss the Stro We cant do anything today against him. Argh.
  5. He is a chandelier to be sure @ $22mm but man do we need him to stay healthy this year at the top of our order. Goins and Travis....sweet DP
  6. no prob with Reyes dropping one down to leg out a hit from time to time....
  7. meh..fair pov but he actually Ks more like 15-18% of PAs. He grounds into a much lower % of DPs. 18 all last yr. I can see the move and don't have a huge issue with it but Jose is slow and Donaldson could end it with a swing. full count im guessing FB as he beat Edwin on it earlier in the AB - and as you pointed out that makes success % lower.
  8. PVRed game as was on day trip for meetings. Watched it last night when I got home. Had em on the ropes early and couldn't get that hit. That 9th was intense but then what a buzzkill. Epic AB with Edwin ends in strike em out throw em out DP (not liking Jose running there with an overdue Josh Donaldson on deck). Its so early but not overly impressed on D or 0 with the much hyped Martin. Pitchframing-gasms aside he hasn't blocked some balls he needs to and he just looks pretty ordinary back there. The "winner" and young pitcher whisperer that he was supposed to be? Time will tell. For f*** sakes...the bar wasn't set very high for him with JPA and Navarro. On 0 last season was an outlier imo. 7 games in you have to cut him some slack, but I hope he starts producing a hell of a lot more and soon. 5 years to go. Lets get em today men. Go Jays.
  9. Jiminez looking 2013 but we will get to him. Hopefully Sanchez can settle down and keep us close. The DP was money.
  10. agreed. Im just glad we are putting up some runs before he gets it going.
  11. Well said. Although Cecil isn't ready yet imo. V down and didn't pitch enough in the Spring. Makes that curve a lot less effective. However, we don't have an embarrassment of riches in this pen so Gibby went with his vets in high leverage situation. Loup, despite occasional meltdown has been effective for us. Didn't work out....lets get them today.
  12. Regression entirely predictable. Not as good as his numbers last year which were ridiculous. He isn't as bad as he showed today and most of the Spring. Got to give him a real shot. No choice. I miss Stro.
  13. Drabek had some wicked stuff but 2 TJs too much to overcome coupled with his seemingly endless command issues. After 2nd TJ I never thought he would amount to much more than a RHP mop up long man. Now he will do that for the Chisox. Too bad. This is a tough game.
  14. I liked Lawrie. His D was the best we had since Rolen, and he seemed to be getting more mature emotionally. But I was clinging still to that .950 OPS break in he had that he never repeated, and he is a chandelier. I look forward to Donaldson making me forget about him on 3rd for us.
  15. Too early to make that judgement on Lawrie imo. His D consistently improved and he has enough raw athletic ability to figure it out at the plate....he just needs to stay healthy and off the Red Bull and let the ball travel to the zone instead of jumping at it so often. Im amazed with his approach he hit as much as he has so far. JD is a major here and now upgrade.
  16. I like it. Was big Lawrie fan and think the kid is a stud on D with a lot more potential at the plate. Total chandelier though so far. Couple of the other pieces sting but we got a bona fide here and now star @3rd. I like AA's aggressiveness again...even though Im still boiling over what coulda been 2014.
  17. Aw...isn't that cute...I made Moogy's little "I don't like them cause they made me cry" list. Clearly you are hands down the #1 troll (but a smart one). No contest. Congrats.
  18. 66 ks in 219 ABs. Great D potential and 15 of 20 on the bases. Kept his OBP over .300 but regressing. Just u-g-l-y against LHP. Guy is an enigma and I don't know if he will ever figure it out to become what we all would like over a full season. If we cant resign Melky and/or Colby (which we wont likely) he ends up as our CF 2015.
  19. Far from a stud and an up and down season...overall coming off TJ you have to cut him some slack and he did well. Some starts when he had that great FB command he was awesome up and was tough. Lock for next season in the rotation...lets hope he stays healthy and builds up more stamina.
  20. Please god...lock this thread.
  21. Gibby can only polish a turd so much. Lack of depth...injuries to key pieces...mediocre SP staff and meltdowns by key relievers...Colby regression to 2012 etc. Unexpected surprises like Stro and Sanchez backfilled his assets somewhat. We made mistakes in the off season and at deadline being too inactive in filling holes imo when we had a real shot this year...that we blew. I can't blame Gibby for that. Bottom line as one fan I'm no huge Gibby proponent, but I think he has done a reasonable job getting what he can out of this team's capabilities and we have bigger issues in the front office and on the roster than him to address. Gibby termination is not a magic elixir and is counter productive sacrificial lamb window dressing to divert uneducated fans from the real holes we have to address.
  22. He isn't 2013 but he is still a bona fide deep threat who can hit any pitch out of the park and any line up would miss him badly.
