  1. Welcome to the 2021 Rosterbation Discussion Thread. We've never had a regular thread like this in the past so I don't know how it will translate but I feel like it could potentially be a new staple of the forum. The Rosterbation thread is where you get to play GM and Manager and build your ideal line-ups and rosters, and where you also complain about the manager's line-up decisions when the season begins. To be clear, this isn't meant to mirror the Offseason Roster Thread, which is more informational and being used to discuss free agency and the trade wire. This is where you set the line-up and roster how you think it should be, and how it would be set if you were the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays.
  2. While you have a point, in that the Blue Jays and Raptors have the benefit of no Canadian competition from coast-to-coast, your argument is also not necessarily strong. There are a massive amount of people in Canada that root for teams like the Red Sox or the Mariners, and just as many bandwagoners that root for the Yankees. Similarly, before the Raptors got good, I knew more Lakers fans in Toronto than I did Raptors fans. You'd have a more convincing argument if the Leafs didn't also have one of the largest online fanbases of any team in the NHL.
  3. I've actually noticed this constantly over the years. Seems very common for Jays players to be in the most searched list. I guess it makes sense, Toronto teams seem to have one of the largest online fanbases of any city.
  4. It's a new year and a new General Discussion Thread. Surprised this hasn't been refreshed yet but seems like now is as good a time as any with some major moves happening around the Blue Jays and plenty of rumors for more.
  5. In my headcanon, the Blue Jays are now working on several major moves at once and the fake Brantley signing leak was a preemptive Ned Stark play by Shatkins to figure out who's leaking information. Now that the mole has been discovered and executed, they can continue on with their Godfather plans to dominate the baseball market under the shadows.
  6. I was super excited about them getting Brantley but is it the worst thing in the world if they don't? I was rosterbating a bit earlier and trying to build a lineup and realized either Lourdes or Teoscar wouldn't fit if they got Brantley, and those are the top two wRC+'s on the team from last season. Unless you're getting legitimate value back on the pitching side, losing one of those guys to replace them with Brantley seems like a lateral move at best. Obviously it looks a lot better if you get Brantley and don't somehow give up either Lourdes or Teoscar, but then you're probably running Teoscar at DH, where he loses value and still displaces someone like Kirk or Tellez, who could both also be solid bats.
  7. Longer highlight of the above clip from MLB twitter: People can doubt all they want but Vlad's body looks a lot better.
  8. Update: Looks like he's only lost 12 pounds in the off-season so far. 32 pounds in total. Still looks a lot better than he did on the field.
  9. Full story here: https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2047080 The article above shows several instagram posts where Vladdy has been chronicling his weight loss.
  10. https://theathletic.com/2133648/2020/10/12/mlb-draft-order-pirates-rangers-tigers-red-sox-up-top/ Draft rankings will be set normally (by reverse standings reflecting the 2020 season). The Jays draft #19. 1. Pirates 2. Rangers 3. Tigers 4. Red Sox 5. Orioles 6. Diamondbacks 7. Royals 8. Rockies 9. Angels 10. Mets 11. Nationals 12. Mariners 13. Phillies 14. Giants 15. Brewers 16. Marlins 17. Reds 18. Cardinals 19. Blue Jays 20. Yankees 21. Cubs 22. White Sox 23. Indians 24. Braves 25. Athletics 26. Twins 27. Padres 28. Rays 29. Dodgers 30. Vacant: f*** the Astros
  11. Full highlight This inning was his playoff debut.
  12. I haven't been invested in baseball in a long time now but that Nate Pearson inning is one of the most impressive thing I've ever seen. I made a full clip of that inning here: https://streamable.com/241q24 8 swinging strikes in 12 pitches... Holy f***, kid.
  13. Jimmy Rollins is a terrible commentator.
  14. I'd love to see a team run purely through crowdsourcing where the public is polled on every single decision throughout the season. Would be epic to see a ball club lose 120 games.
  15. lmao Tellez ran that like his joints are made of cardboard and melting lard. Even a halfway decent throw would have had him out by 40 feet.
  16. You were right. The result was a very Jays vs Rays type of outcome.
  17. Villar about to take over for Panik and line into an unassisted triple play.
  18. Hernandez bout to trip over his own cleats resulting in a K on a checked swing that goes too far.
  19. Gotta let it marinate it for Rogers.
  20. I don't see those ads because I'm using a cracked NordVPN to watch over a free T-Mobile subscription to MLB.TV. Suck my dirty cock, Rogers.
  21. That stat breakdown is horrifying. I mean beautiful. Tampa bout to clamp down and close this one out.
  22. Gurriel bout to strike out on a foul bunt while Vladdy gets picked off at first.
  23. Vladdy bout to ground into a triple play.
  24. Grichuk about to fall over and embarrass himself.
  25. He was making disgusting pitches even in his bad inning. If Jansen didn't let the ball get by him it would still be a tie game.
