  1. I don't think it means much but I also don't think it's meaningless over that large of a sample size, and considering the kind of teams he pitched for.
  2. No, you can't really argue that it runs true for every org because no other team in the majors drafts 100% ceiling the way the Jays do. Everyone picks at least a few safe players, the Jays only draft guys with huge ceiling and huge bust rates. It is a legitimate concern because yes you can end up with stars, but if you end up on the unlucky end, as the Jays almost always seem to do, you'll have 0 prospects pan out at the major league level, a trend that has haunted the Jays since Roy Halladay.
  3. Fix: 2 HR, 3 triples http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif What the hell was going in the Gulf Coast league?
  4. Exactly. That's my f***ing problem. After everything this team has invested over the past two years, after all the trades and the neglecting to sign free agents, and now when they completely empty the upper-levels of the farm system in these next few trades, the playoffs are still only going to be a possibility. That's complete ********. When you take on as much payroll and kill the farm system as much as the Jays have, you should have far more than a possibility. The playoffs should no longer be only a best case scenario, they should be likely.
  5. He's a massive, Fielder-like first baseman that we drafted last year (2013 draft) and nobody thought we'd be able to sign him. Has ridiculous power. He was my favourite 2013 draft acquisition by a wide margin.
  6. I laughed because I've never intended to troll anyone with my posts. I don't intentionally try to be an ass, but I'm sure I'll often come off that way because I'm opinionated. Absolutely no hard feelings to you for that though haha.
  7. Yes we did. That is neither here nor there, though, because Shark isn't Doc. He's pitched more than 200 innings once. 174 innings doesn't count as "around 200" in my opinion, that's like 4 less games pitched. This.
  8. Samardzija and Butler. This team doesn't deserve to make the playoffs.
  9. Option 3 is that Rogers is pissed that the Jays finished in the cellar after all of that invested money last year and aren't willing to spend more. We're also overlooking the fact that all the praise AA has had for Rogers' willingness to cooperate thus far was under the Nadir Mohammed regime. Rogers has a new CEO and it might be significantly harder for AA's camp to request FA money form a guy who just got in the chair.
  10. Exactly. There is absolutely no f***ing way I can turn my head away from a contract like that after seeing what Beltran and Nolasco signed for, and how big of a need we have at 2B. I don't care if people don't think he's worth that much, that is how much money the Jays should throw at him. I just hope that we don't some day find out that the Jays did try to get him and he chose not to come here because of that stupid Rasmus incident.
  11. This genuinely made me laugh. I love how over the years we've developed this stereotype that these guys are either major league athletes or flipping burgers in a fast food joint, no middle ground http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif
  12. You entertain me greatly http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif
  13. This shouldn't surprise anybody. I'd rather give Sanchez+Stroman for Samardzija than I would give Syndergaard+d'Arnaud for Dickey. We know that and the Cubs know that. If I was Epstein I'd be offended if they offered anything less after seeing how they opted to so readily let the Mets penetrate them last year.

  15. In that case, that makes me pretty new too, since I started in June of this year. I thought the "new poster" thing was based on this forum alone.
  16. That's nice and all, except that I suggested a 32/4 offer, which if you have trouble calculating, is 8M a year, the same realm as "2/19" or "3/22-24". But by all means, continue to rage and flip out, gotta release those pent up hormones one way or another.
  17. Nobody is saying that we don't need SP. Some of us just think that 2B is a bigger concern. Especially based on much more focused Alex seems on upgrading SP than he does on doing anything for second base.
  18. I think it's a pretty long stretch actually to assume that Izturis will be a 1-WAR player in 2014. He hasn't been that since 2010. I think there's a much bigger chance that between Happ, Stroman, Hutchison, Drabek, Redmond, etc, etc, you can find a guy that will give you 1 win. Yup, people tend to hate those that don't conform to their ignorance or their hive mentality. See: above.
  19. It's not a stretch to say that the Jays current options for the 5th starter role could combine for 1 WAR.
  20. http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif You're just all peaches and cream aren't you? Sort of like a figurative vagina.
  21. As far as I know (I could be wrong), Phillips has 10-and-5 rights and will only waive his no-trade clause if he gets more money. I assume so because if he put up that kind of a condition to go to the Yankees (in a trade that was getting the Reds Gardner, no less), it can only be worse for every other team. He's also outright said in the past that he doesn't do home-town discounts. Yes in the hypothetical world where we buy low on him the way we did Escobar and Rasmus, I'm all for it. In the real world, even if we somehow acquired him on his current salary, he'd have a 50/4 contract from 2014-onwards. With the attached "club-house attitude" and the relentless greed for money, paired with the fact that it will take significant assets to acquire him (eg: Gardner), I don't want to go anywhere near this guy. I also don't understand the s*** about buying low on players with attitude problems (I'm all for it) if you're just going to sell them cheap as hell for attitude problems a year or two later (Escobar).
