  1. I agree with your assessment that Sheilds is a very attractive offer to many teams, especially considering the cost right now for pitchers. Which is why I think the Padres will be smart about the situation and wait. They can just start a bidding war form the teams that missed out on the big name pitchers (Giants/Dodgers, Cardinals, Jays and others). I can see them getting more than a 40-year old knuckleballer who may retire at season's end and a pitcher who has taken a step back to the point of not even being considered a part of a big league rotation. If the Padres even agree to eat some $$ in his contract that makes it even more attractive and could interest other teams to join the bidding as well (*ahem* Boston, cause they still have prospects left and DD is somewhat dumn). If the Jays hope to make a competitive offer for Sheilds I imagine it will start with one of Pompey or Osuna and go up from there.
  2. You are a big fan of Greinke I take it? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/21767425/honest-greinke-who-admits-was-top-consideration-made-texas-offer-before-la-deal
  3. Not sure if he'll be a starter. Avila may take that job. He may however get more playing time being a DH. As funny and stupid as that may sound, he hit better than LaRoche did last year so it's a improvement for the Sox lol.
  4. AA in press on why DP didn't sign: "We made a offer to David that we felt was competitive." Actual situation: AA: "Hey David, we're willing to give you a 9 figure contract." David: "That's awesome AA. Lets hear it!" AA: "Great. Great. $100M over 10 years with like, 25 mil deferred" *click* AA: "Hello.. David? Still there? .... I am sure he'll call back. Not like Boston has money to blow ammirite!"
  5. I disagree on the built his 2015 on duck-farts which won't transfer over. Colabello will likely always have a high BABIP given his ability to hit the ball throughout the field: Oppo%: 26.5% | Cent%: 39.1% | Pull%: 34.5 (last year) // Oppo%: 26.9% | Cent%: 37.6% | Pull%: 35.5% (career - 760 PA). In fact, over the past 2 years he has lowered his Pull% by 5% and increased his Cent% by 4.6%. Would be interesting to hear the other offensive peripherals you would be referring to. Other than Hard% contact Smoak really doesn't have anything significant better. Colabello is at a respectable 31.1% Hard% so he isn't hitting softies. Smoak walks slightly more, sure. They both strike out at the same rate. Not saying Colabello won't regress, a .400 BABIP is redonk. But his underlining stats make me think Cola can be a above average hitter. In the end he and Smoak will likely provide near the same value.
  6. Oh f*** that is right! The internet lied to me..
  7. This! Think he was one of the best pitcher framers last year, even ahead of Martin. Would be a great addition. http://www.chicagonow.com/sox-stuff/files/2015/06/Kenny.jpg Rumor mill: They are looking at Navvy.
  8. We got f***ing raped.
  9. Or Pompey can be in the minors? ..
  10. It is! Well, at least we will still have Donaldson and Tulo. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/adventuretimewithfinnandjake/images/4/49/It
  11. Oh man, I just realized how much this could be possible. If either (or both, cause Boston dgaf) Bautista or EE went to Boston, I'd have fan tears.
  12. What names you have in mind? I only have Trout, Harper for sure with Bryant and Machado on the cusps. Not many for sure. While I would agree that I'd be risk averse on giving Heyward that contract, I wouldn't hate it either. E: Thanks Spank.^
  13. http://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/ba_dum_tss_pirates_band_of_misfits.gif
  14. Also means Sanchez is a reliever. Love that! Hope he is traded..
  15. Axford elects free agency. Wondering if the Jays could target him as bullpen depth. His walks are always a issue but his other numbers are pretty good: 10.02 K/9, 56.1% GB% and 3.74 xFIP. Could be great for blowout games.
  16. Pretty baseless statement.
  17. Where did you find details of it? I couldn't find it - could be looking at the wrong places.
  18. 16-20 weeks. Not 20 months. Funny typo.
  19. Pft, why give so much? Just give em Dickey and PTBNL. That'll do et!
  20. Yes, but can he stick? sarcasm! =P
  21. Thinking more on it, you could be right. I am just thinking that they want a starter but guess Atlanta would have no issues with sending Osuna back down and stretching him - a position I doubt the Jays would take currently. I'd also happily pull the trigger if that was the main piece going back, maybe add a DJ Davis here and there.
  22. Would be amazing if the Jays could get him. Certainly help soften the blow for EE/Bau's eventual departure. However I doubt Atlanta takes anything less than Stroman as the main piece. Maybe Osuan after looking at the Simmons trade again haha.
  23. Maybe he is dumb as you think and Dombrowski is just dumber than you thought. #BOOM
  24. I'd love to hear the argument on why this would be.
  25. Ha, Ang. You crazy Mexican. Love you. But on a serious note, really? Reyes. This dude: http://gifs.houseofthebluebird.com/wp-content/uploads/JoseReyesDancingWithTheGroundcrew.gif I mean, I know you shouldn't judge someone by their appearance but if you were to ask me "hey who in the BJs past/present team do you think could abuse anyone" I'd probably go Bautista http://www.adweek.com/files/imagecache/node-detail/news_article/jose-bautista-01-2015.jpg I hope Reyes' wife is okay.
