    He's 35, he sucked last year and he already failed to sign with the Rangers for almost the same amount of money because MRI shows elbow inflammation. Seems like high risk, average reward type of signing to me.

    Usually a catcher that can hit is a starter.

    I'm guessing he's going to have options so they can option him to the minors and hence you could see him in the minors

    According to FG, Jansen is 2nd best catcher prospect in baseball. And 2nd best only by a few spots, impressive. Maybe we have the next JPA on our hands... Joking.

    As a prospect, if I recall correctly all reports were always the opposite, good bat with no defense. So if you believe he's good on defense and bad with offense, that's probably a sign that there is something there.

    I love it how people make up stories about how high our chances are because of some Japanese roots somehow, like Kawasaki having a small talk with him before and then they drop to reality and the guy didn't even consider us.

    I understand that he just lost his dad but it's quite common for people to manage loss by keeping their mind busy and if/once it gets real, I'm sure it will be great for him on many levels to follow in his dad's footsteps. Is it too early to tell what will happen with him? Of course, but one can hope. And if it wasn't clear, I meant getting a ring with Toronto.
