  1. So if we wanted to try and sneak an expensive veteran through the wire and trade him once he clears, that isn't possible this season?
  2. Any chance we will see August trades? I read somewhere that they changed the rules a bit on those type of trades but not quite clear what changed from the past.
  3. It was mentioned on MLBTR that the Rays top prospects were off the list during the trade deadline negotiations so we can forget about those.
  4. Gurriel had around 350 PAs while Hernandez had around a 1000, I kinda got used to what Hernandez is which is a fourth outfielder. Could he turn into Bautista? Sure but I’d be surprised and I tend to be very bullish on our players.
  5. How can the number 6 prospect in baseball only project 100 wRC+, even after putting godly numbers in his first full week in the majors?
  6. The guy threw like 30 balls in an inning, he’s obviously not getting the border line calls...
  7. I understand your point of view but I see a few things slightly different. Biagini to me is nobody sure, but so is Fisher. Pompey was also top 100 prospect, you don’t see him being traded for a similar package. As to Sanchez, he’s mostly been bad when he was injured and trying to play through it, there is plenty in there to suggest it’s too early to give up on him, especially after he got a few good starts under his belt. Is it a small sample size? Sure but makes more sense to at least wait until the end of the season to get a bigger sample size, it’s not like we got a huge return for him that we had to take now or never.
  8. +1 Maybe the Astros will take him.
  9. Hatch had xFIP of 3.16 in that game, seems like he did better than the line suggests.
  10. The Sanchez trade really bothers me. Front office believes their advanced analytics team found a hidden gem nobody knows about in Fisher which is fine, but if he’s so hidden why overpay for him by sending both Sanchez and Biagini? Either he’s not so hidden and a known commodity which I doubt because I didn’t see anyone write about him ever or what I think is more likely, Atkins is so bad at negotiating that the Astros were able to sell to Atkins that because Fisher has elite peripherals, if you only consider average exit velocity and ignore everything else that tells you his ceiling is AAAA.
  11. Pretty sure you need to record an out for it to be considered a catch.
  12. It could also back fire on the players, if they act up too much, other teams may view them as toxic and they may end up unemployed. A good but extreme example is Colin Kaepernick in the NFL. When he was the best in the world, he could do no harm but when he started to slip a little bit on the field and his off the field hectics became louder, he found himself having to resort to law suits because he believed everyone out there to get him.
  13. Welcome to the board! Technically, soccer in Europe is very similar to the way it works here, if a player is under contract he doesn’t have any freedom. But NBA kinda became like soccer in Europe where a player can force a trade by saying he’s unhappy and doesn’t want to play for his team anymore. Team knows if it will become public his trade value will go down so it makes sense to trade him while he still has value which is why we’ve seen quick trades like Paul George or Kristaps Porzingis happen before it was widely known that something was going on. In baseball it’s less common but does happen sometimes.
  14. It does make me feel a little bit better about this trade, before that it felt like a punch to the gut.
  15. Cause MLBTR says so...
  16. From MLBTR: “Lewis and Kirilloff were also on the mind of the Blue Jays’ front office, as Toronto was looking for either of the prospects in exchange for Marcus Stroman. Minnesota turned down this initial request, and The Athletic’s Dan Hayes reports that the Jays never called back with any other offers before trading Stroman to the Mets. This would seem to indicate that the Jays were only interested in Lewis and Kirilloff specifically, though Hayes writes that “the Twins were disappointed when Toronto didn’t give them a chance to match an offer they believed they could have outdone.” Clearly Atkins doesn’t know what he’s doing if he doesn’t let other teams bid for your top players. Even in Moneyball they did that...
  17. Kinda feel bamboozled by this trade, as mentioned by other people before, it would make more sense for the same trade if you remove Sanchez.
  18. I guess the Indians don’t need Smoak anymore.
  19. There goes the trade value for Galvis...
  20. Clearly senior is better cause he hit 2 more doubles...
  21. Biggio was never a blue chip prospect as far as I recall, he wasn't very high on many lists until recently. And that's kinda my point exactly, if our farm is deeper than most (3rd compared with 23rd of the Mets) than it stands to reason that their top 10 are more like top 20 for us, so their top 6 and 7 should probably be more around 15ish in our ranking. Unless SWR becomes the next Thor, I kinda feel we got fleeced.
  22. I don't understand it, at the start of the season, Jays farm was ranked 3rd and Mets farm ranked 23rd by BleacherReport. Kay and SWR were ranked 6th and 7th there and now that MLB Pipeline updated our ranking they are ranked 5th and 7th in our farm?
  23. I wonder what they do if they get a list of 10 players to choose from and a day later they trade some of those players to some other team, how can that work? They put a lock on those players? It's weird...
  24. Great, let’s trade Pompey for Thor because just until recently Pompey was also a top 100 prospect... To sweeten the pot, we can also give them Hudson cause he’s a flamethrower.
