  1. A good but not elite prospect, he definitely has a shot at becoming an MLB SP though.
  2. Release Wang, call up Stroman? Find some multi-inning stint for Cecil b/w Rogers' and Stroman's starts?
  3. Couldn't agree more, if the Jays and AA are to go on to success last off-season has to be a one off over-payment to take that next step.
  4. If he can put up 2 WAR and +200IP of sub 4.50 ERA ball he will be well worth the $20M to this team.
  5. Shouldn't move either of those guys at this point. Rasmus has been decent, Gose has been s*** in AAA, Buehrle salvaged this season and is as durable as ever. I might have to change my username to RaRaRasmutin haha Lind, Melky and Janssen are the obvious trade candidates IMO but none open up that much payroll space. AA is going to have to be creative.
  6. Ya, $150M seems like a reasonable top budget but, a $30M bump in payroll after what, $50M-$60M?, the previous season seems highly unlikely. I'd need to look at the 40-man a little bit more but, it's possible that $10M-$15M could be shuffled out with Peavey coming in.
  7. I think Rogers sees how much attention a winner would get in T.O. right now. This year is the tip of the iceberg if they can win year-over-year. Hopefully Rogers sees this and bumps salary a bit as it's going to be hard to contend on a $120M payroll and the current roster.
  8. Peavey makes a lot of sense; helps the team win now, gives them a front-end pitcher for when JJ walks (cross another off-season task off the list), reasonable 2015 player option and AA apparently had a deal in place to acquire him last off-season.
  9. I think Cubs are looking for an elite prospect and that to land him today that's what it would take. IMO that will change as the deadline approaches as I'm not sure Garza would turn down a QO, with the assumption the Cubs feel the same way, I think they move him for the best package possible. Utley/Lee and the perception of fielding a playoff contender for the Phillies to move those guys without a top prospect coming back. Lee especially is going to take a no-doubt package for Amaro to pull the trigger.
  10. I really have no idea, Twitter was blowing up like they were the only two teams to sign big name guys.
  11. I'm interested to see just how far over their respective budgets they went. That's a haul for both those teams given the new amateur IFA rules.
  12. I didn't have Stanek as a 1st rounder by the time the draft hit. The velocity is electric and the breaking stuff is decent but, I hate his delivery and feel he will either be a reliever or hurt his entire career. Way happier with Bickford.
  13. Take out all the guys the Rangers and Cubs signed and it probably looks like AA did even better.
  14. I don't know enough about the other guys but I like the sounds of Gaudino. Up the middle talents who can do everything fairly well are always hard to get a hold of. Plus the concentration on high upside bats makes up for going so pitching heavy this draft. Now sign Tellez, Brentz and Bickford AA

  16. Ya or JPA because who cares if he plays for two weeks.
  17. I know it's really early but this would be my plan from now through the off-season if I were AA. Sign Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, sign McCann/Ruiz, move Jimenez (opens up the 40man spot for Nessy as TheHurl said and he is really the only positional prospect the Jays could move for something of value) in a package for a 2B or another SP, offer JJ a QO and see what happens.
  18. Ace sent me these a little bit ago, they've already been posted but, to save people from digging; 8. Yeltsin Gudino, ss, VenezuelaBorn: Jan. 17, 1997. Ht.: 6-0. Wt.: 155. B-T: R-R. The top prospect this year from Carlos Guillen’s academy, Gudino was the shortstop and leadoff hitter for the Venezuelan youth national team that hosted the Pan American Championship in August 2011. One year later, he won a gold medal in Mexico at the 15U World Championship, where he hit .458/.611/.833 with a double, three triples, 10 walks and three strikeouts, with five stolen bases in six attempts. Gudino doesn’t have one true plus tool but is a polished player, a true shortstop who hits in games and should see his tools improve once he adds strength to his thin frame. He stays inside the ball with a short, efficient swing and good bat path. He shows strong strike-zone discipline with the ability to lay off pitches off the plate, and good bat control. He will never be a big power threat and lacks strength, which makes some scouts wonder how much impact he will have. He’s more of a line-drive hitter who uses the middle of the field and will work the gaps. Gudino’s high baseball IQ and awareness are evident in all facets of the game. He’s a smooth fielder with good hands who reads hops well and has sound fundamentals. He is an average runner with an average arm. He’s advanced enough that he should be able to jump to the U.S. next year without much difficulty. Some scouts think Yrziarri has louder tools, but consider Gudino a safer bet. The Blue Jays have zeroed in on Gudino as one of their top targets this year. 18. Freddy Rodriguez, of, VenezuelaBorn: Nov. 15, 1996. Ht: 6-1. Wt.: 180. B-T: L-R. Rodriguez is one of several players from Carlos Guillen’s academy who stand out for their baseball instincts and ability to perform in games, including Yeltsin Gudino, Carlos Talavera and Nestor Tejada. Rodriguez earns praise for his hitting, with a solid approach and a compact swing with good bat path from the left side, though he some scouts think he misses too many hittable fastballs. He’s a gap hitter with the size to project more sock in the future. He has advanced baseball skills and solid tools. Rodriguez has run above-average times in the 60-yard dash, so he has the present speed to play center field and a chance to stay there. His weakest tool is his arm. He doesn’t throw well and pushes the ball with a strange arm stroke. If he slows down, he would have to move to left field, which would place a greater demand on his bat. Rodriguez has been tied to the Red Sox and then the Rockies, but now some sources believe the Blue Jays might be the team that signs him.
  19. He was on Jays Talk this afternoon and was taking calls. Probably has something to do with that.
  20. Bruce Chen for sure
  21. Perhaps AA is working to trade some space...??
  22. Can't even fill the bottom bowl of a brand new ballpark, they have had some good teams but, they are a terribly run organization and not good for baseball in Florida (not the Marlins, Loria).
  23. If the MArlins gave up that space without getting something significant back Loria needs to be kicked out of baseball. At some point enough has to be enough, right?
  24. Any word on what TEX gave up for the extra cap space?
