  1. IMO BJ has a terrible attitude and it really hinders his production. Admittedly, I thought it was a family trait but, Justin is proving me wrong.
  2. I'd love to add Peavy! Probably one of the few top end guys that wouldn't cost Sanchez to bring in.
  3. If he was going to be out awhile wouldn't they have moved Morrow to the 60-day DL by now though? (opens up a 40-man spot, right?)
  4. Both have been playing hurt and way under expectations. Very sad. I was all over Darvish and Latos but, I have to admit BJ scared me off of JUpton.
  5. Ya, I think that's where the diverging view points come in. It's something I'll be cognizant of in the future. Question though; If it was called the Pride Banner instead of the Pride Flag, would your opinion change on flying it? (obviously not on a pole beside the other flags)
  6. Lohse is a really interesting target. I can see MIL wanting to get out from under that contract in a hurry, could be decent value there.
  7. There'd be riots! That'd be terrible! haha I totally get the point you are making. Apparently a flag has a deeper meaning to older generations which I can respect. I don't view it that way but, I can picture a line of war vets echoing your feelings. IMO it's just showing support. It's the same as lighting the x-mas tree in times square, or dropping the ball on NYE. Just a way for a community to come together, support each other and celebrate with their city. Perhaps others will feel it is forcing a view-point on them. At the end of the day Seattle is one of the few US cities that isn't a melting pot, something I think they're extremely proud of and worth celebrating.
  8. Against the Snider trade. My dream off-season was Dickey + Melky. I got my wish but both have been terrible.
  9. Snider wOBA by month (wRC+); Apr - .354 (128) May - .291 (85) Jun - .213 (31)
  10. I do agree that it is win the one game play-in/division or bust this season for AA. I still think '98/'99 were entirely different scenarios. Jose Cruz would have actually helped the team win and was a good player. Kawasaki was going to ride the pine and even if he was a full time starter probably wouldn't produce a full win of value over whichever combination of Izturis/Bonifacio/DeRosa at 2B. If the Jays lose out by a couple games I think most fans will point to the starting rotation and not the MIF. Yes, AA should have gotten a better 2B if he expected to compete this year. However, the largest issue this season has been the lack of SP depth and under-performance of some key guys. Obviously AA will be lambasted from fans if JJ/Dickey put up poor seasons. Plus the lack of depth has been a common theme through-out AA's tenure and one that cannot carry-on in to the future.
  11. It's more prevalent because they aren't dead. Shocker, right?
  12. Why would you fly a flag of Isreal on a Jewish Holiday? Do you have any idea how many Jews that would piss off? They aren't all zionist and most of them wouldn't want that negative attention on a holiday. Additionally it isn't part of the religious ceremony to worship the state of Isreal in any way, or to fly a flag. It is common practice to fly a Pride flag especially on Pride Day. If the MLB wanted to follow the Jewish holiday traditions and light a menorah on Chanukkah or have some wine on yum kippur I could hardly see that being a bad thing.
  13. Not with the standard of living you are used to.
  14. What about wearing a patch like on Jackie Robinson Day or special uniforms like on Memorial Day! I understand what you are saying Kirk but, the MLB has already gone down that path.
  15. I fail to see how astronomical payroll is a bad option. I, for one, would love Rogers to have a $200M payroll. Attendance and TV ratings are way up, Rogers has always said they will spend if the fans show up. Last year they lived up to that commitment and spent big. There is some reason to believe that if fans continue to support the team at record levels payroll will continue to climb as there will be pressure to maintain a winning product. The farm is very deep at the lowest levels but, thin on top prospects in the highest levels which have significantly more trade value. I wouldn't want to dip too much in the farm but, realistically one of Sanchez, Osuna or Stroman could headline a package for something significant.
  16. FA, big names if payroll goes up, value guys if it stays level Trading farm pieces for someone who fits the budget Trading MLB pieces; Rasmus, JPA, Delabar, Cecil, Janssen, Boni, Izturis, Rajai, Melky all could get SOMETHING back Plus Hutch, Happ, Santos, Perez, Morrow and Reyes are all coming back from injury which are some significant additions
  17. So basically what you are saying is they have multiple ways to add and re-tool this team in the off-season. You've lost faith with AA which is fine but, that doesn't mean the Jays can't get better. JPA has been bad enough that he may be replaced, there is a glaring hole at 2B that can be addressed, players are coming back from injury, Lawrie may take a step forward, Stroman will be one year closer to MLB ready and there is a bevy of young controllable BP pieces that can be moved. It has been a very difficult season but, it's not all doom and gloom in T.O.
  18. That's assuming they don't add to this group going forward which, I'm sure they will. Plus the Jays are a game over .500, just got Reyes back and are about to get Santos, Lawrie, Perez and hopefully Morrow off the DL in the next month and a half.
  19. From what I hear Barreto and Lugo have both been impressive. The system hasn't had this kind of MIF talent since Adams and Hill. I just wish they were closer to the majors!
  20. I read through this thread and I have to say I do not disagree with you but, I feel you are missing the point. The Jays season doesn't rely on which one of Kawasaki or Bonifacio gets 150 ABs in a bench role the rest of the way. It relies on Bautista, Reyes, Dickey, Johnson, Lawrie, Buehrle, Morrow, Janssen and Edwin, the core players that AA has put in place and staked his reputation on. These are the guys that are going to take us to the playoffs and if they play well the team should be in striking distance in it's first playoff appearance since '93.
  21. It's a great spot to discuss anything Jays related, including the GCL. The GCL features some top Jays' prospects like Franklin Barreto and Anthony Alford, so they get a fair bit of coverage compared to most other sites. More importantly, congratulations to your nephew and family! I'll be rooting for him to make it!
  22. TBH if Ball got $2.75M I'd be pushing hard to get Bickford to for around the $2.25M-$2.6M Shipley, Crawford, McGuire and Smith signed for.
  23. Could explain the sudden Reyes call-up when he was thought to need a few more days to rehab.
