  1. When the Jays don't sign a pick it lowers the draft budget, the 5% overage allowance is calculated based on the budget. Therefore the amount available from the 5% does rely on getting Bickford and Hollon signed. Right now $~$210k of the possible ~$320k overage is tied to Hollon and Bickford's budget space.
  2. It's Dustin McGowan
  3. The system could really use a bat like Tellez's
  4. Wasn't there talk of Hollon signing at slot a couple weeks ago?
  5. It doesn't really matter if he is or isn't better than any one guy. The fact remains that at the time of the draft Bickford is as good a prospect as any other pitcher in Blue Jays history. Very exciting player to add to a system.
  6. Splitting hairs here but he's more of a mid-to-late first in a deep draft. He's quite possibly the best pitching prospect ever drafted by the Jays. Definitely would be a good guy to have in the system if the price is right. Have to agree that having a top 10 pick and larger bonus pool in a deeper draft could be worthwhile though.
  7. Somewhere in the 10-25 range depending on what other draftees sign and how the short season guys perform over the next couple months.
  8. Around baseball is normally where you'll find that stuff.
  9. Images, polls, and quotes have made the content of posts more enjoyable. Improved layouts, better more customizable preferences, vastly superior mobile site, a decent moderator, less stringent rules/policies, the ability to give feedback provides an even better experience.
  10. It really has been great so far. If you have any knowledgeable Blue Jays fans from your last community please feel free to invite them over. The more the merrier.

  12. Buehrle's contract expires after 2015, that would open up the money for Headley but, a year late. It will take creativity to find the payroll space for that one season but, with some young guys finally reaching the high minors it should be possible.
  13. Terrible trade for the Jays.
  14. Much better conversation on this board
  15. Absolutely. At the end of the day Wong is Marco Scutaro-lite which is a decent player but nothing to get all worked up about.
  16. What's with all the love for Wong. He's putting up decent numbers in the PCL but, they aren't great. IMO he'll be a solid starter but, he isn't likely to become an AS type of player.
  17. I wouldn't do it for Wong but, I would for Billy Hamilton.
  18. If they're giving up top prospects it should only be for good young players. AA has the core for a winner here, we'll have to wait and see how he adds to it. Fingers crossed we don't have Amaro 2.0 here.
  19. $9.5M would be enough to cover Wells' 2013 salary. Kendrick for Stroman + Carreno + $9.5M... Maybe with another C guy like Crouse? Anyone want to put on the LAA hat, is that more enticing than Stroman + Nolin?
  20. I'm really liking the idea of adding Kendrick, he's a perfect fit and possibly available. I was looking at the Angels payroll and can't help but, wonder what they would pay to get out from Well's salary. I'm not not sure if it is even possible to trade salary obligation (w/o moving a player) given the current CBA. However if the Jays were to take on Kendrick + some of Wells salary you would have to think the price would come down a bit. Perhaps this is another chance for Rogers to flex it's financial might.
  21. I'd love to add Wong but I would be reluctant to move MLB pieces for a guy that wont help this year. That's a move best suited for the off-season IMO.
  22. Starting to go back and forth a bit on the value here. So we may be in the ballpark.
  23. Have to offer him a qualifying offer. If he rejects it and signs with another team the Jays would get a pick at the end of the first round in the 2014 Rule 4 draft.
  24. They're just there so that we can do the list now without voting again after the signing period. If they don't sign admin will drop them and it is a lot less work for him.
  25. I value Stroman about the same as Osuna. I feel the Angels would prefer Stroman because he is closer to MLB ready which is why I picked him. However, I do like your package. You'd have to think a package of Osuna/Stroman + Nolin + MLB BP piece w/ control (Carreno/Stilson/Jenkins) + org guy would have to be enough to at least get their attention.
