  1. From what I posted; Seems like 2 years to me..
  2. Cliff Lee and Utley.
  3. I just wouldn't do it for a bunch of okay guys. The 100% tax makes that $25M-30M more like $50-$60M and being limited to only $250k guys for two years is crazy given the success rate of even the high bonus kids. If there is a rare talent, bid what it takes to get them.
  4. AA said he was waiting a week to 10 days for the trade market to heat up. Who here thinks he hits the panic button and overpays to get the "right" guy now?
  5. According to Ben Badler of Baseball America [1]; [1] http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2013/5/31/4383420/mlb-international-draft-2014-mlb-draft Took me awhile to find so I thought I'd share. For the right guy I;d consider it. If you have what you feel is the next Roberto Alomar available pay what you need to get him. I think those type of players don't come around that often though and when they do lots of teams will be in on them.
  6. AA at all the attention the team is getting for right now http://www.teen.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/ryan-gosling-funny-adorable-laugh.gif
  7. Plot twist: AA told JP to go cause a stir in the media and ruffle some feathers, Zaunie and Hayhurst were in all the whole thing. They are going to go at each others throats talking smack. At the AS Break JP and Jose will have a WWE style cage match vs Zaun and Hayhurst complete with Jose Power Bombing Zaun off the top of the cage and Hayhurst giving JP the good ol' Mr Socko.
  8. Not too sure about the whole IFA class what i specifically heard was about Guillen's academy. Ace would probably know though.
  9. Again you have serious reading comprehension issues.
  10. Because you don't have a career and have never been a professional. How can you be expected to know the responsibility that comes with it or the way in which your actions in uniform impact your entire organization.
  11. JP said NOTHING offensive. The only thing you are getting worked up about is he said his team didn't respect Dirk and Zaun and that many of them don't respect cheaters. He's opened himself up to criticism and he is going to take a lot of heat. However, he didn't go on air and use a racial slur and he sure as hell didn't go on National TV with one written across his face.
  12. He would certainly get less hate because one carries a positive connotation within a pop-culture community (for god knows what reason) and the other is viewed as completely offensive. Also that comment about the gay community is completely off base. There is a gay rights movement going on in Canada and it may be inconvenient but, you shouldn't confuse people fighting for their rights with slang pissing them off. I don't think what JP said will effect the team chemistry, at all. He'll apologize and they will move on, like adults do.
  13. It wasn't what Yunel said, it was the uniform he was wearing when he said it. JP didn't offend anyone he just made himself seem silly and like a whiner. He's getting rightful criticism but, what Yunel did was far worse to the organization.
  14. Look, fatcow you are young and don't get it but this is the jist of it. If Vernon Wells walked out on the field with you are my n***** on his cheek how do you think the fan base would react? Sure, it's common slang and people say it all the time, it is still completely unacceptable from a professional. How do you think my boss would feel if I walked around in our company uniform using slang that people find offensive? JP stood up for himself and he is taking the heat for it but he didn't say anything offensive to the fans or embarrassing to the team. Your criticism basically comes down to I like Yunel so what he did was ok but, I dislike JP so what he did was far worse.
  15. I've read some speculation that the Gudino signing was posturing for next year. Apparently Gullen has a very strong class coming out of his academy.
  16. I assure you it means the exact same thing in Spanish as the way it is translated. The difference is in Hispanic countries people don't care where as North Americans do. Ignorance isn't a good reason to embarrass the organization and alienate a group of fans.
  17. Seems like AA and co did alright, definitely wasn't a great signing period though.
  18. Not close to as bad fatcow...
  19. Maybe it will get him fired up, he's been almost as bad as JP this year though Unfortunately, it's going to be Rasmus or one of the Joses
  20. I'm sure the entire team is telling him to get out of the media. focus on baseball JP, you're on your way out of the league FFS.
  21. Ya, I don't care about the PED thing but, once I went back and listened to him saying the team thing I felt much worse about it. I think he backed it up a bit right afterwards by saying some guy including himself but, as you said he spoke for the team which is unacceptable. I do think that perhaps the PED comment created controversy with Melky but, at the end of the day he cheated and he tried to cover it up when he got caught, they should respect him less.
  22. Say what you want about his game, which I'm hoping the above is referring to but, by all accounts he is a good person. He spent the first half of the interview promoting his charity gig and is one of the most active athletes in the community. He truly does seem like a good person who happens to be a terrible ball player.
  23. Personally I feel all MLB ball players should talk s*** about Zaun. He is a moron and I hope they don't respect him. Garfoose does his best to act like a professional analyst, obviously he is prone to the somewhat new to the gig blunders but, I don't think he deserves the same critique. He's always made very level criticisms of JP's game, as he showed again today in his response.
  24. Ya, it was hilarious. I loved every second of it. I think people are reacting a little harder because he went on the radio, if the quotes were printed in the newspaper I wonder if he would've got the same fallout.
