  1. I'm not sold on Drabek yet...he was way too emotional. He can get that in check I'm sure but he was getting knocked around pretty good before he got hurt. He had one good month. I still say a full season in AAA would do him good. Bring him up in September and let him earn a spot in Spring Training 2015. Hutchison on the other hand...I'm dying to see him back.
  2. JPA will not ever turn it around. He's going to stay at exactly the same level of play he's at now, wind up in AAA and likely stay there the rest of his career, except maybe as an occassional call up if there are injuries. And, on the off chance that he does improve...I don't care. I've never watched a Jays game and rooted for one of our own players to fail before...but this guy had me doing it. He could turn into Miguel Cabrera and I'd still want him nowhere near our team.
  3. Ok I will ask the question...if JPA is the second worst of all time, who was the worst?
  4. I sincerely hope not. He is a another guy with attitude issues. We just got rid of JPA, let's not invite another troublemaker in.
  5. Been to San Francisco as well and have a soft spot for the Giants. Also been to Angel Stadium which I think is the most beautiful ball park I've ever been to, so I'll watch an Angels game now and then. I guess I'll just been watching a lot of random baseball on Jays off days next season.
  6. I can't get enough baseball so this year in addition to following the Jays, I am thinking of following an NL team as well. I've always had a soft spot for the Cubs but I'm really not THAT big a glutton for punishment. Do any of you guys follow a team in the other league?
  7. I think Lind had a decent year. As long as you keep him away from lefties he's not terrible and I thought made good strides. Definitely would be nice to upgrade him...mind you we have EE that looked great at 1B too so we could also just get a good DH. He is expendable for sure.
  8. Talk to me in 2-3 years and we will see. JPA was a charitable guy too but I don't think you'd argue he had a massive ego that got in the way of his development. Don't assume my claim is baseless. I've watched him pitch, seen his interviews, and even met the man once. Not to mention I evaluate attitude and behavior for a living. He has an attitude, currently disguised as "swagger"...but it will come out eventually. His attitude is similar to that of Fernando Rodney. You might want a guy like Rodney on your team based on his ability, and I wouldn't argue with that...but he has a massive ego nonetheless and when he struggles you will see him clash with management.
  9. Stroman is going to have an ego problem, guaranteed. But if he can keep that in check he'll be a good late innings relief guy...possible future closer.
  10. If you really think that you are delusional. I know football is literally the only game in town in Saskatchewan so I can understand your need to convince yourself that the CFL is legitimately a professional sports league and that any team in the league can hold a candle to even the worst NFL team, but in reality the fact that we are even having this conversation is indicative of how poor the CFL is. If the CFL were truly even remotely on par with the NFL we wouldn't be arguing about it.
  11. I didn't read your novel so I can't comment on whatever you wrote. Warren Moon can say whatever he wants. So can Jose Canseco or Tim Thomas. Just because he played the game doesn't mean he's right. The CFL is inferior. I would even suggest at least a good 50% of the US college football teams could beat or hold their own against the best CFL teams. If a player goes on to have success in the NFL after the CFL, that only illustrates my point. If they're good enough, they leave the CFL. If they left the NFL to come to the CFL, a) they didn't do it voluntarily, they did it because they were cut from the NFL, and if they failed in the CFL who cares? There could have been a multitude of issues that caused that and I don't care to go through them all because this is a stupid conversation.
  12. The Riders would lose regardless of the rules. And by a wide margin, too. But hey, if you enjoy amateur football, to each their own.
  13. TLDR. But to answer your question in your final paragraph -- because the CFL is horrible football and I would rather watch professionals. Don't worry, the older generation that actually watches the CFL won't be around forever. Younger fans are very sparse and the CFL will eventually be unable to sustain itself. I love how you think I don't understand football though, based on one true comment I made in a thread on a baseball message forum.
  14. There really is no limit to what the human mind can attempt to justify. If you threw the Jacksonville Jaguars, the worst team in the NFL, out onto the field against the Grey Cup Champion Roughriders, the Jaguars would win every time. That's all you need to know about the CFL.
  15. Listen, I get that you live in Saskatchewan and have nothing else to look forward to than Riders games, but don't make assumptions. First of all, I am a huge NFL and college football fan (go Steelers and Tigers), and if you're going to misquote me at least don't put my actual quote right above your misquote. I said MOST CFL players are fringe college players at best. ALL of them are not good enough for the NFL. If Durant is so great what the hell is he doing playing in a dump like Saskatchewan making $300k a year when he could be making the NFL minimum of $420k if he could even crack a roster and sit on the bench?
  16. The CFL is not even worthy of discussion. It's an amateur league filled with players who aren't good enough for the NFL and most of whom were fringe players in college at best. How it gets so much coverage can only be explained by the need to fill air, and with this new deal TSN is unfortunately going to have a lot more air to fill.
  17. I wouldn't mind getting Samardzija as a 3 or 4 guy, but I would not give up more than Sierra + Nolin and a fringe prospect for him. Maybe that's unrealistic, but if so then it's not worth it.
  18. Just change your DNS and hide behind a US VPN and you can access all Jays broadcasts through MLB.TV.
  19. I hope this means Rogers gets serious about their production values and hires technical people behind the scenes that know what they're doing, and analysts on camera that aren't complete morons (I'm looking at you Doug Maclean and Nick Kypreos). I'll tell you who's REALLY happy - Jim Van Horne. Haha. His switch to Sportsnet FINALLY pays off after all this time.

  21. I don't think Morrow is a douche. But these were douchey comments. I actually think he's a classy guy and I think he'll contend for a Cy Young award if he can stay healthy.
  22. Lots of potential, but I remember watching him in a Spring Training game a couple years ago and he had a swagger about him that had me a bit concerned, like he was entitled to a roster spot. I think all the hype around him has gotten to his head, but I don't think he's too far gone yet. Still, I can't look at him and not picture him in a Yankees uniform one day. Dunno why.
  23. Agreed. Douche = douche. Nothing to do with tough and confident. He's got this aura of entitlement around him, same as JPA. I am rarely ever wrong about these things. You will see.
  24. Great makeup does not = not a douchebag. Lawrie has a great makeup, I think we'd all agree he's a douche. I evaluate people for a living, I can spot an attitude problem a mile away. Stroman is going to be a problem, you'll see. Watch a few interviews with him and you'll see what I mean.
