  1. More media attention = more interested fans. More interested fans = more butts in seats. More butts in seats = higher payroll. Higher payroll = better players. Better players = better chance of winning. So, good thing.
  2. I hope the balls explode out of Dickey, Johnson, and Wang's hands.
  3. Did he play 9 innings? My understanding was they are easing him in...
  4. Voted for EE since Reyes wasn't on the list.
  5. In fairness, players say things like that in the media all the time. Not long ago Dickey was saying JP could catch him just fine, and we know how that went. MB could have wanted to throw the guy a bone and get him some positive media attention to boost his confidence. That said, I will withdraw my comment until I watch him more closely the next few games. Been watching the entire Colorado series since I (finally) got my cable back but wasn't really paying much attention to JP since the pitchers have been mowing everyone down.
  6. Admittedly I wasn't able to watch any games last week because I was moving, but I find it hard to believe he's gone from being the worst I've ever seen to "excellent" in such a short span of time. More likely, the pitchers are beginning to take matters into their own hands or someone on the bench is directing JP (which should have happened from the beginning). Either way...
  7. Dickey Verlander Kershaw Darvish Johnson Oh, dreams. Seriously though... Dickey Johnson Buerhle Wang Morrow or Rogers If Morrow is back from injury, the spot is his...I don't think Rogers can keep this up. Hope he does, but I don't think he will and he'll end up a good reliever.
  8. Did you see his post-game interview last night? "I'm not worried at all about my hitting, I'm focused on calling the game and defence." a) This is concerning because you would think a "top 10 catcher, bro" would have a more well-rounded game. His defence is f***ing atrocious and his game calling is horrible, so if he's really focusing on his defence and game calling, this is a huge concern. c) It's obviously his way of copping out of a terrible year at the plate and claiming it doesn't matter. The team is winning now so the heat is off him a bit, but this guy is a bigger clown every time they put a camera on him. He LOVES the camera...trying to set himself up for a career in broadcasting but with a voice like that he's got a better chance of getting a voiceover role for Despicable Me 3.
  9. Looks like we have ourselves a team here...finally!
  10. Dickey, Johnson, and Wang...a hard rotation to beat.
  11. My bad, sorry for the duplicate thread...didn't see that.
  12. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2013/05/31/former_blue_jay_suddenly_an_ace_with_baffling_pitch.html
  13. He needed a vacation, because being off 6 months a year isn't enough for him.
  14. I doubt anything will happen today. If Atlanta wants to try something they could wait one more day and do it at home.
  15. I said mid way through last season he was done. He had a sense of entitlement, same as Lawrie does, same as JP. They're screwing around on Twitter all winter when they should be working their asses off to get better. Romero may have been the worst of them all...making the all star team probably didn't do him any favors. You could see his attitude shift from "I have to work hard" to "alright, I made it, now I can relax and enjoy it." Did him in. If the Jays ever come to their senses and send JP down to AAA, he would react the same way as Romero -- "what the hell? I'm a #top10catcher in the major leagues, I don't belong in the minors" and he would sulk himself into terrible season in the minors and we'd never see him again. I don't know how players with these attitudes get drafted. Shouldn't they be interviewed before the Jays draft them? Can they not detect this attitude? I can SEE it in body language...mind you it's what I do for a living...but AA made a conscious effort to take on other teams' problem players. Escobar, Cabrera (only one who's worked out so far), Lawrie, Rasmus, etc...other teams dumped them for a reason. I don't think the problem on this team is talent, it's character.
  16. I doubt we'll see them in the bigs this year...unless it's maybe in September and the Jays are way out of it. Drabek wasn't pitching so great when he went down anyway...he needs AAA time, Buffalo would be good for him for a year. Hutch was pitching like a stud...but I still think he'll be in AAA for at least half of next year to regain his confidence and build his arm back up.
  17. Probably walks because at the rate JPs head is swelling it will be covering a portion of the moon before long.
  18. JPA 20:13: "1.2% walkrate, 33.7% strikeout rate, but thou shalt cheweth thy gum as the douche does, and spitteth thy venom on Twitter to protecteth thine own ego over the good of thy team."
  19. Well, if anything can justify his not taking any walks, it's a Bible verse. If he sucked this much but he was humble, I might actually support the guy. But he honestly in his heart of hearts believes he is the greatest thing on earth and can do no wrong...I'm almost disappointed when he gets a hit because I WANT to see this guy fail. Takes a LOT to get me to hate a player THAT much on my own team. Pathetic. This guy needs to be getting booed when he comes to the plate.
  20. So assuming 550 ABs, that makes 195.25 Ks his required strikeouts for this prestigious record. This makes 136.25 Ks his magic number. We should start a count down.
  21. Johnson? Kelly Johnson? He got off to a scorching hot start last year and then nosedived into shallow water and splattered everywhere around mid-June...don't worry, he will fall off.
  22. The way we treated Yunel? The guy was a basket case, constantly made stupid plays to be a hotdog like when he tried to pick off Blanco after a routine fly out and ended up throwing it away yesterday...was constantly complaining to umpires about nothing (remember when he was called out on a bang-bang play at second, replay showed he was clearly out and yet he chirped at the umpire for literally the next 3 innings while on the field?)...the eye black scandal was the last straw. And bear in mind those are just the things we SAW...who knows how he was in the clubhouse but if his actions on the field are any indication he was a toolbag there too. Trading him was necessary. He was Alex Rios all over again, except unlike Rios, his head was already inflated when he got here...Rios at least took a year to reach full power douche status.
  23. Escobar deserves to be booed. He embarassed the organization and was a drama queen for 2.5 seasons here. Wells is being booed because he plays for the Yankees and used to be a prominent player for the Jays. Jeter gets booed too. So does A-Rod. Also, I think fans were disappointed that Wells was playing so poorly after signing such a huge contract. Halladay is the classiest guy to ever wear a Jays uniform and left because the Jays weren't a World Series contender and knew he was about to enter the twilight of his career. If the fans booed him that would have been an embarassment.
  24. If it gets to him that much, the fans are gonna boo him louder for the rest of the series and the Jays should throw him NOTHING he can hit because he's a selfish player and he's going to swing for the fences whether it's in the zone or not to try and show up the fans.
