    AA really screwed the pooch not picking up a pitcher. He needs to pull off a trade before the season starts...and that will never happen.

    To go with the pitcher thread, thought I'd try this one too. For me it was Manny Lee and JP Arencibia for sure. Honorable mention to Alex Rios.

    Josh Towers for me too. What made it worse was he has a fan club of morons who thought he was actually a good pitcher. Coupled with his attitude problem, the only thing that could have made it worse was if JPA was catching him.

    This is beyond ridiculous at this point. He is a headcase before even signing a contract. Inflated sense of worth, "me first" attitude, and doesn't even have the numbers to back it up. Give HIM a deadline. Enough of him and his agent dictating the negotiations. Give him until the end of the day to make a decision or pull the offer. Opening day is in 21 days, if he doesn't value Spring Training then I have questions about his desire to win and what he would bring to this clubhouse that already has a reputation for not taking the game seriously enough. I would actually have walked away from this negotiation a long time ago but if AA wants him he needs to put his foot down already.

    No but the Jays have been trying to sign this mediocre pitcher for the last 2 months and he's been holding out all winter. It's getting ridiculous. This isn't Nolan Ryan, it's Ervin friggin' Santana, a number three pitcher when he's "on" and Ricky Romero when he's not.

    If you don't think Joe Carter is a Jays legend, something is the matter with you. The guy was a key player for both World Series, not to mention hit a walk off homerun you may have heard about. I was just a kid when he was a Jay but behind Alomar and Stieb he was always my favorite, and the guy is a class act and phenomenal ambassador of the game and the franchise. Numbers aren't EVERYTHING.

    I see JPA's ego made the trip to Texas, as well. Yes, they went after him "hard" and got him cheap because absolutely nobody else wanted him. Way to be humbled, JP. This is exactly why he'll be in AAA for the rest of his career (save for an injury call up from time to time) by the end of the season and why I was so happy he was forced out of Toronto.
