  1. The amount of douchebaggery on this team is astounding. Between JP, Lawrie, Romero and comments like this from Morrow...tough team to cheer for sometimes. And mark my words, there's another one coming up through the system who is highly touted right now but who is possibly the biggest douche of them all. Name is Marcus Stroman. He has attitude problems written all over him.
  2. I know, but if some other team sees any value in him, I'd rather trade him than another asset that could be dealt for pitching or 2B.
  3. Because he's talked his way out of town.
  4. If we trade away the assets everyone is talking about in this thread for Conger/Iannetta and Kendrick, we'll have no chips left to move for our biggest problem -- starting pitching. In reality, JPA needs to be included in any package, and if AA can sell the perception that he has any sort of potential and add Nolin and/or Stroman to the mix, Wilson Ramos should be attainable. 2B, if we can't get a guy like Kendrick, I'm fine with Goins. Can't hit that well but 2B isn't traditionally a heavy hitting position, defence is more important and we have enough offence to go around. We still need 2-3 starting pitchers and that is going to be AA's toughest challenge. Any update on Hutch? He'd be a good first call-up when there's an injury.
  5. I want JPA gone more than anybody, and would be happy to see ANYONE ELSE behind the plate next year...but I hope we get someone better than Iannetta or Conger (the Sun has something about the Jays having interest in him as well). I want a gun behind the plate, someone who can frame and can hit at least .250 with an OBP over .320.
  6. Listen, when you can't land a job in MLB...can't land a job in AAA...land a job in AA and call it your "dream situation"...you probably aren't a major league calibre manager. Out of all the options AA could have hired, Gibbons wasn't even on the chart...he was beneath the chart in "this is so stupid we won't even bring it up" territory. He seems like a nice guy, might even be a decent bench coach, but he is not a manager and it seems like AA is gonna die with him in the dugout. I think AA is stuck now...if he fires him he's admitting to a huge mistake and he'd be toast too. So, I'd say Gibbons is safe until AA is gone.
  7. The Jays are owned by Rogers. Sportsnet = Rogers. Blue Jays = main content on Sportsnet and exclusive to the network. Rogers also owns Rogers Center. Rogers Center is primarily used to house the Blue Jays. Rogers has invested significant money on upgrades to the stadium and are in the process of getting real grass for the Blue Jays by 2018 and are kicking the Argos out by that year, so the Blue Jays can get said real grass. The Jays are in zero danger of relocating.
  8. Again... JP was a dick, called out players in the media, some of which weren't even Blue Jays (Adam Dunn, who wouldn't sign with the Jays so JP blasted him), originally hired Gibbons, signed Wells to a ridiculous contract, and while I like the moneyball philosophy, I think most people were happy when he got canned because he had worn out his welcome here big time. Plus, if he was so great, why isn't he another team's GM yet? Bottom line, they both suck, but at least AA has a good reputation around the league. You're basically asking us to pick the tallest midget though.
  9. The results weren't there, but again, when the moves were made, the Jays were the favorite to win the World Series for god's sake. His mistake was hiring Gibbons and stroking JPA's cock like a Boston Pizza waitress. Hindsight is 20/20. But the thread says we are not evaluating based on results. If we evaluate on results it's not even a question, JP Ricciardi's record is clearly much better.
  10. I agree, but if we're going to crucify him, let's do it for the right reasons. When he made the trade with Miami, we were worried it wasn't going to be approved because it was such a fleecing by AA. The city was buzzing about the Jays all winter. At the time it seemed like the best trade in Blue Jays history. It didn't work out, and now AA has to take it on the chin, but at least he had the balls to try it. Unfortunately this is the part where he enters desperation mode and instead of making logical trades that are good for the organization, he's more likely to trade more prospects to plug more holes and probably end up with the same result next year in an effort to save his job.
  11. He also unloaded the Vernon Wells contract, traded Thames for Delabar, Marcum for Lawrie...
  12. He needs to go, and we need to hire a GM with a history of building a winner. Unfortunately I can't think of one that's available at the moment.
  13. Let's face it, most of us were excited about "the trade" last winter. Reyes alone had me jacked. We gave up a lot but we were all excited that we were finally "going for it"...I might not have had the balls to make that trade but AA took a shot and if it had worked out we wouldn't be worried about the prospects we let go of. I will say this, his biggest mistake was hiring Gibbons. Gibbons himself told him it was a mistake. It was clear coming out of Spring Training that the team wasn't prepared. His other mistake was keeping JPA at the big league level when he's been running his mouth and making enemies out of everyone, in the midst of the worst season I can ever recall any big league player having. He's talked his way out of town while playing his way out of town. Between the coaching and the catching, I have to wonder how much better the pitching could have been if handled properly. In any event...JP Ricciardi was almost as unlikeable as JP Arencibia. He was arrogant, bashed players in the media, was unprofessional and no one liked dealing with him. His "big splash" off season didn't work out either (Scott Rolen, BJ Ryan, etc)...difference is he got them as free agents without blowing up the farm. It's a close call but based on everything, I still think AA is the better GM. I also think that's not really saying much because JP was awful.
  14. On second thought, it probably wasn't Lawrie because there was no #grindddeeerrrrzzz #getmegooooooiiinnnn in the article.
  15. The word "grinders" makes me think of Lawrie.
  16. Go to Boston Pizza by Rogers Center (Front/Blue Jays Way) and ask the waitresses about JP there. It's where he and Lawrie frequent.
  17. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Baseball/MLB/Toronto/2013/10/01/21163911.html Do you think she knows about all the women he's been banging in Toronto?
  18. Dodgers, but I'd like to see the A's win it.
  19. To clarify, he is the worst major league player I have ever seen play the game. Made worse by his ego.
  20. In fairness, if AA came on and was 100% honest about how bad JPA is, what an enormous doucheballoon he is and how good he is at giving head, how is he going to trade him? He has to make it sound like he has at least a hope of going back to AA or AAA where he belongs and pulling his career out of the sewer. That said, he laid it on pretty thick considering JPA is hands down the worst player I have ever watched play the game. Ever. Coupled with a bigger ego than Ricky Henderson and Barry Bonds combined.
  21. Then the teams with byes would complain their hitter's timing is all screwed up.
  22. I've never seen an athlete get away with running his mouth as much as this clown does while turning in literally one of the worst seasons in the history of the game. This guy is going to get the Mendoza Line renamed after him at this rate.
