  1. I think most people here would tell you to just wear the jersey. It's not like EE and Bautista were never here. It's not like their iconic moments didn't happen.
  2. So one of Pillar or Pompey has to come back in the deal?

Jonn is a Finn in case anyone forgot and couldn't make out this post.
  4. I was just going to post the same thing, lol. He's brought this up before (though it's been awhile) and I have no idea why he does it. It's pretty inappropriate and irrelevant. I mean hate on Dickey all you want but it's hardly his fault that he was sexually abused.

  6. I don't hate that idea.
  7. Given that 1B/DH were addressed relatively cheaply. Given that the Jays weren't able to spend those saving on Fowler, they might as well pay market rate on a LH reliever. Whatever they were willing to give Fowler should more than cover that and leave enough money for a second tier outfielder. Not sure where else they would spend the money at this point.
  8. Doesn't post much but does post occasionally. Handle is _Nox_ or something like that.
  9. As was Dee Gordon. They were also caught with the same stuff which simply suggests that MLB got better at detecting it later in the drug's cycle. I think it's quite likely that Colabelo's level of disbelief at being caught was related to this. He was tested at a time where in previous year's the drug would have avoided detection. Stumpft, Gordon, Colabello all got caught with the same stuff. That speaks volumes to me.

I have no problem with focusing on your strength. Just seems to me that Casey says a lot of empty things about the importance of defense even at times when his actions suggest he's not actually prioritizing it. I think he seems himself as a more defensive minded coach than he actually is. That's not necessarily a problem for this team as currently constructed.

It seems to me like when it comes to emphasizing defense, Casey is all talk.
  12. Big power surge across baseball. Freddy Galvis hit 20.
  13. Tampa is a really bad situation. Weak market compounded by a horrible stadium situation. It's to that franchise's credit that they are not a perpetual doormat but they have the worst setup and no obvious path to improvement.
  14. If Bautista changed his mind and came back to the Jays, he wouldn't be able to get the q.o. amount anymore is what Wilner is saying. They would have lived with it if he accepted but they wanted him to decline and they are not going to offer him that amount again.
  15. O.K. Well let me phrase that differently. The players with money can eat out more and spend more on groceries, etc. They don't rely on that food as much as the other guys.
  16. Wilner made it pretty clear that he didn't think the q.o. was still on the table and I think he's close enough to the team that we can take him at his word on this one regardless of what we may think of him generally. I would think a company guy like him would be more prone to humour the notion rather than dismiss it.
  17. You probably have to pay that to sign him today but the Rockies deal to Dunn isn't necessarily representative of how the market in general values these guys. The Rockies paid a premium for Dunn because no one wants to pitch there. There isn't necessarily a second team desperate enough to go that high. If you wait out market, you have to figure there's a reasonable chance that Logan will sign for less than Dunn. At the very least I'm not ready to write it off completely though when your plan is to wait out the market, you have to have contingencies in place.
  18. If this isn't a winning smile... (no bra is a nice touch too)
  19. High K rates are one thing Grilli, Benoit and Liriano all had in common when the Jays acquired them. It seems like they operate with a fairly straight forward "if you're getting K's, you must be doing something right" criteria for identifying viable buy low candidates.
  20. Oh absolutely. It's not like we have intimate knowledge of these people. All you really have to go on is perceived reputation and the occasional on field behaviour. I'm sure there are a lot of guys who rub opponents the wrong way but are great teammates and I'm sure there are guys who seem cool and are quietly *******s.
  21. Well if Garza were there for his spitting, I'd have to include Bumgarner for his snot rockets.
  22. Yeah he should be the least controversial choice. Notorious head hunter.
  23. They're all hot heads on the mound much like Garza, Lackey and Latos. Romo is probably the biggest stretch but I included him because he's a semi realistic target. Furthermore, it's not like I spent all day on this.
  24. All Rotten Apples Team C McCann 1B Bautista 2B Utley 3B Donaldson SS Kang OF Carlos Gomez OF Braun OF Puig DH AROD Bench: Y. Escobar, B. Lawrie, D. Young, A.J. SP Ventura SP Lackey SP Latos SP Samardzija SP Garza RP Chapman RP Bush RP Papelbon RP Romo RP Herrera
  25. They give big signing bonuses to the elite guys and those guys don't need to bother with the catered lunches. It's a very tiered work environment.
