Was anyone expecting Sanchez not to flash good stuff? If he didn't have good stuff why would he even be a prospect? Certainly not because he's been effective in the minors, he hasn't. It's always been about the stuff and the front of the rotation upside. That's why he's been kept around and not cashed in yet, certainly not because he could be an effective reliever. I mean it's nice if he can be (not that we know that yet) but his development as a starter is the true measure of whether he lives up to the hope or not. It's nice to see him flash the good stuff but to be honest, I'm not very invested in his success as a reliever. I still maintain that the team didn't need to resort to this to find relief help and I would hate for the team to get too enamored with him in this role. If you gave me a choice between making him a reliever full time or trading him to a team that still sees the potential to turn him into a front line starter. I would pick the later all day.
