  1. If SD lands Tocano to boot, I'll be pretty despaired.

Interesting. It's really hard to gauge speed when dude is facing lesser opposition. Seems like he has a really quick initial burst and levels off after that.

    Kid has some power.
  4. Dude, age is more than just a number. Why are you being so obtuse about this? No one needs to be a doctor to know that a comeback at 39 is unlikely. When exactly do you expect his career to end? At fifty?
  5. A 39 year old Marco Scutaro with a bad back has a lesser chance than Izturis of contributing. The good ship Marco Scutaro has sailed.
  6. The problem with that is that he can probably get that much from a team with a pitcher friendly ballpark.
  7. Is it just me or is his actual writing kind of poor?
  8. I think the idea is that he didn't put all the weight he lost back on. That being said he was losing velocity before it happened so I'm not convinced that it entirely works as an explanation for why he sucks, more of a convenient excuse for the optimists.

Which is why they didn't make the switch sooner. As bad as Hoyer has been, he still gave them a better chance than Johnny Football ever will. Being a Browns fan must be pretty despairing. Even in a season where they have put together a winning record deep into the season, they look completely f***ed.
  10. If Melky had come down to 3/45 sooner, he might have signed with the Jays but if he really didn't want to play on the turf than there was really no reason for him not to ask for the moon. He got virtually the same deal and he's on grass so I suppose he's happy and if the Jays run with Norris/Saunders they probably won't miss Melky/Happ anyways. Everyone's better off.
  11. I haven't forgot. I'm just not really buying into it.
  12. Happ is coming off a pretty damn good year, he was basically best case scenario Happ in 2014. I think with regression, it's probably a wash.
  13. Sorry didn't mean to undermine the whole article.
  14. He was developped in the States. The article should have brought that up and at least explained why his case is different rather than leave him out and leave readers guessing why it doesn't mention the most successful Korean hitter of all time.
  15. His throws are awesome. A few of them were low but some of them were just insanely accurate given how awkward his positioning was. Seems like he could throw to an EE level 1B without worry from any of the other infield position.
  16. To be fair, some people were pretty rude in their replies. No need to leave with your tail between your legs. You didn't do anything ban-worthy and you apologized and that shows maturity. You're not the first to have regrets over an argument and your argument was hardly the ugliest one we've seen. If you're sincere about turning the page and moving on, people typically respect that and do the same.
  17. I don't think those are allowed. As far a I know only incentives based on playing time and individual awards are allowed in MLB.
  18. The words Elijah Dukes come to mind. Maybe he's not on that level but some reclamation cases are lost causes. It's too bad too because I love the skill set.
  19. I don't know what kind of uspside there is when a gusy seems to have some pretty desctructive tendencies. The Padres flat out gave up on him. Didn't even try to get something back. They may not be the smartest front office but that's pretty telling.
  20. I basically trust Blurnandez's assessment of this guy's defense as much as I trust any scout. Defensive scouting reports are just notoriously unreliable and borderline useless. In one of the scouting reports, a guy says he has the best throwing arm of any shortstop and one sentence later he says he doesn't think he can stick at SS. There's tons of hedging and smokescreening in all of these reports. Say what you will about Keith Law and how often he's wrong, at least he makes his (wrong) assessments plainly. If the Jays like his defense enough to sign him, I will be inclined to believe them. They've been right before (Brett Lawrie whose defense the scouts hardly loved) and they've also been horribly, horribly wrong (the MI fiasco of 2013 where they ignored bad defensive stats from two key acquisitions). After acquiring Martin and Donaldson, it really does seem like the team is taking defense very, very seriously and being thorough about it as opposed to just paying lip service to it. I'm going to trust that they will do their homework and get this one right (get whoever thought Brett Lawrie would be a good 3B to look at him). For the first time in a long time, I feel, perhaps naively, like I can actually give the team the benefit of the doubt and since that's just way more fun than being despaired all the time, I'm just going to trust that the team assessed this guy properly and made the decision whether or not to sign him accordingly.
  21. Man, at least insufferable sourpuss means something. Garbage Clown is just random and nonsensical.
  22. Nice way to fall on your feet. He should rehearse his answers more before he does those little videos. He gets the questions via Twitter so there's no reason for him not to hash out what he's going to say and by extension provide better answers but I don't really want to give him more s*** than he already gets. Good for him for leveraging his name recognition into a new gig.
  23. It's not entirely on Amaro though. From the original article that Tango is quoting:
  24. Did anyone actually argue with you that Lowrie isn't better than the Japanese guy? I don't think anyone actually did. I think where you lose people is when you seem to get really mad at the idea that the team would be built differently from how you would build it. The guy probably has an o.k. stick. If the Jays evalute his defense to be good and they are correct in that evaluation this could still be a good signing even if it's not Lowrie. Wouldn't you agree with that?
  25. Whoah... You're back. Nice to see you!
