  1. The Gregorius/Pirela middle infield is so bad that Drew won't even have to rebound all the way to provide an improvement.
  2. Yeah Prado is pretty brutal as a 2B. Drew should be much better and he should probably steal some ss starts from Didi too.
  3. I'm not holding my breath on Bonds, Rose or any of the blacklisted guys. Shoeless Joe still isn't in it and he died in 1951.
  4. Anyone else find it interesting that Vlad Junior end up with the Jays despite Vlad senior's tenure with the Jays ending on what seemed like a pretty strained note.
  5. s***, I forgot about Armas Jr. I could have sworn it was Pavano straight up. Reportedly, the Blue Jays turned down a Halladay for Pedro swap. Now that might have drastically altered the course of history.
  6. Now your turn... Which player did the Expos get back for Pedro as as straight up return from Boston?
  7. 1. Desheilds the first 2. Mark Langston
  8. I don't know about that... Seems to me like the wife beaters and kid abusers are facing massive backlashes. You can definitely get caught with PEDS withoug much controvery though. Baseball, on the other hand, seems to have it basically backwards. PED are a huge deal and pretty much anything else, other than gambling, is mostly ignored.
  9. I think it all started when Bush mentionned it in a State of the Union speach. Bush as a former owner was probably actually concerned with it and being the man he is probably genuinely thought it was a matter or national concern. That gave Congress an opening for the orchestrated outrage of the hearings. I still think it was incredibly unfair to single out four players and ask them to answer for the whole sport. McGwire's career was ruined for simply refusing to lie about a sin most of his peers were committing but never had to answer for themselves. Palmeiro briefly made himself a folk hero by symply lying (a possibility that most reporters refuse to acknowledge at the time). I still get annoyed by the whole thing just thinking about it.
  10. Delgado was my favourite player for a long time. I could say I'm dissapointed but I don't really think I am. He just doesn't stand out compared to the players of his era. Some people like to say he's the best clean homerun hitter of his era but who really knows. I'm not really comfortable dividing the pool between the dirty and the clean and that's not only because I don't really mind that players juiced. It's also because the distinction would be impossible to make with any clarity anyways. What if you elect a guy based on a clean assumption and then you find out later that he's dirty? Do you then apologize to McGwire? Better to just consider the whole era tainted and just vote for the best.
  11. The MI infield has been pretty slow to settle. Asdrubal is signed but I don't think Pittsburgh has signed Kang yet. Stephen Drew hasn't been in the news much and Everth doesn't seem to be drawing any interest at all. Toritani being still unsigned suggests that the rumours that the Padres were willing to just hand him the SS job for the near future probably weren't true.
  12. Boston is a horribly expensive city. It's either pay a fortune or stay way the f*** out of town.
  13. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/95100876/vlad-guerrero-jr-following-in-fathers-familys-footsteps "To me, God has given him double the talent that his father had," Wilton Guerrero said. "He also grew up watching the game and he's mature for his age. I really hope he can develop and do what he has to do. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the big leagues at 19 or 20. He's going to be that good."
  14. Looking to move Chris Owings. He was a draftee of mine and I'm a fan but I have a lot of similar infielders and someone has to go.
  15. s*** I didn't phrase my question properly. Are these the threadhold? Games played in previous year: 10 Games played in current season: 10 Games started in current season: 5
  16. Can someone remind me of what the eligibility thresholds? Is it 10 game stated last season or 5 games started or 10 games played in-season for position players?
  17. Looking at my ports now and one of them does look like that. I had no idea. I thought I had to out through VGA. Edit: It literally says HDMI next to it. s***, I had no idea that was even a thing much less that I had it.
  18. Are HDMI outs common on computers?
  19. Those are the most obvious candidates. Beyond that there's Liam Hendriks who as maligned as he is still has an impressive track record in the minor (career K/BB over 5), Todd Redmond, Chad Jenkins and new guy Juan Pablo Oramas. If you want to be really optimistic, you could add Drabek and Romero to the list.
  20. I don't follow MLS but from that article it sounds like TFC completely bungled this.
  21. Late 2015 at the earliest.
  22. No big deal. Growing trend in baseball and it makes sense to have different coaches providing different kinds of instructions.
  23. And what would you have me do with the roster spot? Generate a keeper out of thin air? I'd rather spend it on Chatwood than a journeyman. I could have has a better SP than your guy from Jaysblue or someone else for less than you wanted but I preffered the lottery ticket route with Chatwood and I don't think it's that hard to understand why.
  24. Jaysblue offered better players and was more reasonable about it. Sorry that makes you so bitter.
