The only way I was able to see the white and gold illusion was by just keeping the very top of the photo on screen and it doesn't work with every version of the photo that's circulated. As soon as I take in the whole thing, I stop interpreting the blue as anything other than blue. The illusion is very weak for me. Apparently, it has something to do with the strength of the rod cell in your eye. My wife is one of the top wedding photographers in Canada. She's scored highest percentile in every colour acuity test imaginable. She simply cannot make herself see the white and gold. Her colour recognition is too good. As her second shooter, It's a relief that I also see the black and blue 99% of the time.
