One stat doesn't mean that you have ALL the facts on your side. That being said, I don't think anyone should be too categorical one way or another about a young player.

Interesting. We have a lot of two dimensional data on point of contact that basically treats the strike zone a flat area but nothing (that I am aware of) that tracks about the point of contact along the third axis. It wouldn't surprise if a lot of seemingly out of nowhere breakouts happen when the hitter starts making more contact at the front of the strike zone. Isn't that esssentially what Bautista did?

IIRC, Zack Hample was on Conan O' Brien a few years back and he did come off really douchey when he explained some of his tactics for getting as many foul balls as possible. It didn't help that Conan basically used him as foil for his shtick and kept making jokes about how pathetic he is. I think that impression has stuck with a lot of people. The important milestones balls may be coveted by a lot of people but a random ball thrown into the stands only interests little kids and him fighting them off so that he can assemble his massive collection does come off douchey and kind of pathetic. That being said it sounds like from what some people are saying ITT that he's committed quite a few acts of generosity. Maybe he's been doing that all along and Conan didn't emphasize that or maybe he realized that how poorly he came off on tv and this is a recent development. In any case, good on him. He's clearly not so all consumed by his hobby that he can't learn to share with others.

Yeah that kind of good natured ribbing is fine. For one thing, we all know that it's based on reality. I don't have a problem with fans who engage in this. It's the grudge holding and paranoia. Maybe there's big convergence of Alex Jones listeners and Orioles fans. The kind of people who always think that something is up.

Most rivalries aren't so one sided. I guess maybe they're trying to start one? I mean a lot of people are started to really dislike the Orioles but it's mostly because of their fans. I'm not sure what would bring closure to Orioles fans. Cito being put out to pasture (twice!) didn't do it. Having made the playoff more recently than the Blue Jays doesn't. Would winning the World Series appease them? Maybe they just just love the idea of having a rival. a team that can play the role of the bad guys. It seems like most Jays fan focus on what the Jays organization has done to itself and how it can improve. Perceive slights by other team are never more than a temporary concern.

Not sure if addressed at me specifically but the shoe fits. I had already given up and put him on ignore as I stated in this last argument. I didn't mean to get so inlvolved and I had ignored him up until this thread but then I made the mistake of thinking I could just try to make a point with Moogy. He can't just merely disagree with you. He can't just take it or leave it. He has to be argumentative to the point of turning everything into the f***ing' Spanish inquisition and I really should have let it go sooner but he just gets on my nerves so fukin' much that I inevitably fall into the Moogy vortex and it's pretty dumb because he practically seems to live to argue and I actually hate it. I strive for honesty without needless provocation and feel pretty damn miserable when I fail at that. He's pretty much to a T the kind of poster I strive not to be and he irritates me to no end. In any case, I put this newest account on ignore as well but not before also reporting it for the rationale I discussed above. I figured if he was ban worthy before then I don't see why he's not ban worthy now. I certainly would have respected the mods decision either way. I'll continue to put him on ignore at first sight in the future lest I be tempted to try and engage with the miserable S.O.B.
